Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Mireia Gibert. I heard folks talkin’, ya know? Said she’s the ma of that tennis girl, the one who’s real good at hittin’ that fuzzy yellow ball. Paula somethin’, I think her name is.
Now, Mireia, she’s from Barcelona, Spain, way across the big water. Her and her husband, Jose, they come from there. But their girl, she was born over here, in the U-S of A. Imagine that! Leavin’ home and havin’ a baby in a whole ‘nother country.
Heard tell they had some kinda shop, a “studio” they called it. Up on the fifth floor, number one-one-one. Don’t know what they was sellin’, maybe fancy city stuff. Probably ain’t got nothin’ to do with the stuff we got ’round here, like corn and chickens.
- She’s a ma, that’s for sure.
- And a pretty one, from what I hear. Folks sayin’ she’s beautiful.
- Got herself a famous daughter, too. That Paula girl, she’s been ranked real high in tennis. Number two, they say! Can ya believe it? My kids can barely hit a ball without fallin’ over.
Now, I ain’t got no fancy book learnin’, but I do know a thing or two about family. Seein’ as how this Mireia girl and her daughter got this connection and all, it got me thinkin’. A ma’s love is a powerful thing. It don’t matter if you’re in Spain, America, or right here on this dirt road. A ma’s a ma.
Heard they’re on somethin’ called Facebook. I reckon it’s like them picture books they got at the library, only this one lets ya talk to folks far away. Don’t rightly understand it myself, this newfangled technology. But I guess it’s how folks keep in touch these days.
Seems like Mireia’s got a good few folks followin’ her on that Facebook thing. Some say a couple hundred, some say more. I ain’t got nobody followin’ me ‘cept my old dog, Buster, and he just wants his supper. But I reckon havin’ folks interested in what you’re doin’ is a good thing. Makes you feel less lonely in this big old world.
Anyways, this Mireia Gibert, she seems like a good woman. Raisin’ a family, supportin’ her daughter, and livin’ her life. That’s all any of us can do, ain’t it? Just try our best and hope for the good Lord to guide us along the way. It don’t matter if you’re famous or just plain folks like me, we all just tryin’ to make our way, same as her.
This whole tennis thing, I ain’t never seen it played much. But I reckon it takes a lot of hard work. Just like farmin’ or anythin’ else worth doin’. And if Mireia’s girl is that good at it, then you know she had a good ma behind her, supportin’ her and cheerin’ her on. That’s the way it should be, I always say.
So that’s the story, as best as I can tell it. Mireia Gibert, ma of a tennis star, from Barcelona way, and a woman who knows the value of family. Sounds like a good egg to me. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on them chickens. Them critters ain’t gonna feed themselves, ya know.
And another thing, seems like Mireia she follows some folks too on that there Facebook, maybe some friends and family and maybe just folks she finds interesting, who really knows how them things work.
But one thing’s for sure, family’s important, and being there for your kids that’s about the most important thing you can do. Whether it’s here on the farm or in some big city with a building called a “studio”, what matters is that you got people you love.
