Alright, alright, let’s gab a bit about this fella, Christian Yelich, and his lady friend. You know, the baseball player? Yeah, him. Big shot, they say. Always swingin’ that bat and runnin’ around. Anyways, the news is he’s gettin’ hitched. Engaged, that’s the fancy word for it, I guess.
Now, I ain’t never met this girl, this Emily Balkind, but they say she’s a quiet one. Real shy, you know? Keeps to herself. Not like them loudmouths you see on TV all the time. Good for her, I say. Ain’t nothin’ wrong with bein’ a little quiet. More folks oughta be quiet if you ask me.
- Christian, he’s a big deal in baseball, MVP and all that.
- Emily, she’s his girl, and she’s shy.
This Yelich fella, he’s had his share of troubles, too. Hurt his back somethin’ awful last year. Had to get it fixed, you know, surgery and all that. Poor thing. But he’s back at it now, swingin’ that bat like nothin’ happened. Tough fella, I reckon. Gotta be tough to play that game, all that runnin’ and jumpin’ and whatnot.
He’s got brothers, too. One played baseball, just like him, but not as famous, I guess. The other one, he’s a Marine. You know, the army fellas? Fightin’ for our country and all that. Good for him. Someone’s gotta do it, I suppose. And this Yelich’s grandpa, he was from some far-off place. Serb, they call it. Don’t know where that is, but it sounds foreign. Lots of folks comin’ from foreign lands these days, ain’t there?
So, this Emily girl, she’s gonna be a baseball wife now. That’s a whole different ballgame, I tell ya. Lots of travelin’, lots of watchin’ him play. And she gotta deal with all them other wives, too. You know, them fancy ladies with their big hats and their diamonds. Hope she can hold her own. But like I said, she’s quiet. Maybe she’ll just sit there and smile pretty. That’s what most of them do, I think.
It’s kinda sweet though, ain’t it? Even big shot baseball players fall in love and get married. Just like regular folks, I guess. Makes ya think, don’t it? They got their problems, too, I bet. Just like the rest of us. Maybe more, maybe less. Who knows? But love is love, I always say. And it’s nice to see a young couple findin’ happiness, even if they are rich and famous.
Christian Yelich and Emily Balkind. Sounds like a nice couple. Hope they’re happy together. Hope she ain’t too shy to tell him what’s what when he needs it, though. A man needs a strong woman, even if she’s quiet. That’s what I always told my Henry, God rest his soul. He needed a good kick in the pants sometimes, and I was just the woman to give it to him. Even if he did swing a bat pretty good, just like this Yelich fella. But that’s a story for another day.
So, there you have it. The baseball star and his shy gal. Wish ’em all the best, I do. Now, let’s get back to cookin’ supper. All this talk about baseball and weddin’s made me hungry.
This girl, Emily, she is known for bein’ reserved, like they say. Don’t go blabberin’ all her business to everyone. That’s somethin’ I respect. In this day and age, everybody’s always shoutin’ about this and that. A little peace and quiet is a good thing. And from what I hear, this Yelich fella, he appreciates that about her. He’s had his share of the spotlight, I reckon, and probably likes havin’ a little calm in his life. Can’t say I blame him.
So, good luck to the happy couple, I say. And remember folks, quiet ain’t always a bad thing. Sometimes the quietest ones are the strongest. Just like my mama always used to say, “Still waters run deep”. And I reckon that applies to Emily Balkind just fine.
