Today, I wanna talk about this thing called “eternal calculus”. Sounds kinda scary, right? Well, it kinda was at first, but I got through it, and I’m here to share my whole messy journey with you all.
First off, I needed to get my hands on some study materials. What did I do? I went straight to those online courses, those “Mastering” ones. You know, the ones that say they can personalize learning and stuff. I thought, “Why not? Let’s see if they can actually help me grasp this.” So, I signed up, watched a bunch of their “How Do I?” videos, and tried to follow their so-called “best practices.” I mean, they promised to react to how I was performing. Did that really happen? I’m not so sure, but I kept pushing through.
Then, I stumbled upon something about some “HKDSE Mastering Mathematics Mock Paper.” I didn’t really know what that was, but I found some resources for it, like Book 4A, in something called a “Teacher’s Resource Centre” and a “Student’s Resource Centre.” I thought, “Maybe this will help me with that AMC 8 exam that has been a pain in my neck for a while.” I even found a book about “Mastering AMC 8” with examples and practice problems. I grabbed it, hoping it would make things clearer, especially when it came to the MATHCOUNTS stuff.
Now, the real struggle started when I tried to understand the whole concept. They talked about some “equilibrium position,” some “force of gravity,” and a string pulling upwards. What in the world? It felt like my brain was being pulled in different directions. I was like, “What does this have to do with calculus?”
I kept digging, though. I found some information about an approach to teaching something called “GCSE resit maths” in a place called “FE.” It mentioned five “Key Principles” and twelve “research lessons.” I was like, “Okay, maybe this is the key.” So I started going through those lessons, trying to wrap my head around these principles.
To be honest, it was a lot of trial and error. Some days, I felt like I was getting it. Other days, I felt like I was back at square one. I even found a free e-book called “Mastering Math M2A.” I downloaded it as a PDF, thinking it might be my secret weapon. It had its moments, but it wasn’t a magic bullet.
The Struggle is Real, But…
Honestly, it wasn’t easy. There were times I wanted to just give up. But I kept reminding myself why I started this whole thing. I really wanted to understand this “eternal calculus” thing. So I kept going, kept trying different things, kept reading, kept practicing.
And you know what? Slowly but surely, things started to click. It wasn’t like a sudden “aha!” moment. It was more like a gradual understanding. Like, I started to see how these different pieces fit together. I still have a long way to go, but I’m definitely in a better place than when I started.
So, yeah, that’s my story about tackling “eternal calculus.” It’s been a wild ride, full of ups and downs. But I’m still here, still learning, still trying to master this thing. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll actually get there.
- Signed up for “Mastering” courses.
- Watched “How Do I?” videos.
- Explored HKDSE resources.
- Read “Mastering AMC 8” book.
- Studied GCSE resit maths approach.
- Downloaded “Mastering Math M2A” e-book.
- Kept practicing and pushing through.
It was a mess, it was tough, but hey, I’m still here, right? That’s gotta count for something!
