So, I was digging around the internet the other day, and I stumbled upon this old clip from way back in 2007. It’s from some ESPN segment, and it features Joe Rogan and this boxing promoter guy, Lou DiBella. Man, the clip went viral again, I guess for their argument, and it’s a doozy.
It started with me wanting to see some old footages about Lou DiBella. I remember him from back in the day, and he’s a pretty big name in the boxing world. So I was curious to see how he’s been mentioned over the years and what his reputation is like.
I typed “Lou DiBella Rogan 2007” into the search bar, figuring that would narrow it down to stuff around that time. I clicked on the first few results, and that’s when I found this gem. It’s a clip of Rogan and DiBella going at it, talking about MMA versus boxing.
Watched the whole thing, and it’s pretty heated. Rogan was really going in on DiBella, giving him a piece of his mind about boxing and how it compares to MMA. He was fired up, man. Rogan, back in 2007, wasn’t holding back. He was tearing into DiBella, and it was quite a sight. Rogan was saying that the big names in boxing back then would still be big in the future. And DiBella was trying to defend boxing, but Rogan wasn’t having any of it.
After I watched the clip, I started looking around for more context. I read a bunch of articles and forum posts about it. From what I gathered, this was from a time when MMA was really starting to gain traction, and there was a lot of debate about which sport was better. Rogan, being a huge MMA fan and a commentator, was obviously on that side.
- I checked out a few more videos from around that period, just to see what else was being said.
- I also looked up some of Lou DiBella’s more recent interviews, to see if his views had changed at all.
It was a pretty interesting trip down memory lane. I ended up spending a good few hours just diving into this whole thing. It really shows how much things have changed, and how much they’ve stayed the same, in the world of combat sports.
What a time, though. Anyway, it’s crazy to see how passionate people were about this stuff back then, and how it’s still a topic of conversation today.
Shared the clip with a couple of my buddies who are into this kind of thing, and they got a kick out of it too. It’s always fun to revisit these old moments and see how they fit into the bigger picture. Thought I’d share it here too. Might be a blast from the past for some of you, or something totally new for others.
