Okay, so I decided to jump back into ARK the other day. Felt like starting fresh, you know? A new character, a new beginning on some random beach.
Getting Started
First thing, obviously, was firing up the game. Got past the main menu and hit that ‘Create New Survivor’ button. Always kinda liked this part, fiddling with the options.

The screen popped up, showing that default character model. Gotta say, they always look a bit… generic? So, time to make some changes.
The Customization Bit
I spent a good while messing with the sliders. Seriously, there are a lot of them. You can change pretty much everything.
- Body sliders: Made my guy a bit bulkier. Figured it might look tougher, even though it doesn’t really change stats. More for the feel of it.
- Facial features: Tweaked the jawline, cheekbones. Tried making him look a bit weathered, like he’s seen a thing or two. Didn’t go too crazy, though. Sometimes those extreme faces just look weird when you’re running around.
- Hair and colors: Picked a shorter hairstyle, practical I guess. Went with darker hair and skin tone. Thought maybe it helps blend in a tiny bit? Probably not, but hey. Avoided the bright greens and blues this time.
I adjusted the muscle definition, the proportions. You can really make some strange looking folks if you want. I pushed a few sliders to the max just to see, had a chuckle, then dialed them back to something more reasonable.
Named him something simple. Didn’t put too much thought into it, just wanted to get in the game.
Into the World
Once I was happy enough, I hit ‘Create’. Then picked a spawn location. Just went with an easy zone on The Island, figured I’d ease back into it.
And bam, there he was. Woke up on the beach. Took a moment to look around, check out my handiwork in the actual game world. Looked alright. Felt good to have a new face for a new adventure. Now, time to punch some trees, I guess.
