Alright, so I spent some time figuring this one out, this whole “how to pet Naafiri” thing. Seemed kinda weird, you know? A giant Darkin hound made of daggers. Not exactly the first thing you think of when you hear “pet”. But hey, people were asking, so I decided to give it a proper go myself.
My First Steps – Trying the Obvious
First thing I did was jump into the practice tool. Seemed like the easiest place to try without getting ganked every two seconds. Picked Naafiri, spawned a dummy, and just… walked up to her. Real close.
- Tried right-clicking. Nope, just makes you auto-attack. Definitely not petting.
- Tried clicking specifically on her head, her body. Still nothing special.
- Went through all the emotes. `/dance`, `/taunt`, `/joke`, `/laugh`. You get the usual animations, but none of them involve actually petting her. No secret interactions there.
I thought maybe, just maybe, it was something about her packmates. You know, the little doggos running around with her. So I tried focusing on them. Could I click them? Nope. They’re just part of her abilities, seems like. Can’t interact with them directly, let alone pet ’em.
Digging a Bit Deeper (Maybe?)
Okay, so the basic stuff didn’t work. Then I thought, is there some super-secret easter egg? Like, do you need a specific skin? Or maybe another champion nearby triggers something? I messed around a bit with different skins, didn’t see any change. Had a friend hop in as another champ, walked around Naafiri. Nothing.
Stood still near her for a while. Sometimes champs have idle animations that do funny things. Naafiri just kinda snarls and looks menacing. Her packmates mill around. Still no petting.
The Cold, Hard Truth
After trying all this, walking around her model, spamming emotes, checking her packmates… I gotta be honest. You can’t actually pet Naafiri in the game. Like, mechanically, there’s no “/pet” command, no special click, no hidden interaction I could find.
Think about it. She’s this ancient, hive-minded Darkin weapon inhabiting a bunch of dune hounds. Her whole deal is hunting, killing, leading the pack. She’s not exactly designed to be cuddly. Riot probably didn’t think “Yeah, let’s add a petting animation to the terrifying dagger monster.”
So, the closest thing you get to “petting” Naafiri is maybe landing your Q on an enemy. That’s about as much interaction as she seems interested in, honestly. Or maybe sending her back to base counts as a pat on the head? Probably not.
So, yeah. That’s the result of my little experiment. No petting the Naafiri. Was kinda funny trying to figure it out though. Just another day messing around in League, I guess.
