Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Kim somethin’ and that Hewitt fella. Them two, they were a thing back in the day, you know, when they were hittin’ tennis balls real good. Yep, Kim Clijsters and Lleyton Hewitt, that’s their names. Fancy names, huh? They was all over the TV, winnin’ this and that. Big shots, I tell ya.
Now, that Kim, she was somethin’ else. From Belgium, or somethin’ like that. She could whack that ball somethin’ fierce. Won a whole mess of them tennis matches. US Open, Australian Open, she won ’em. She was a winner. Three-time winner of the WTA, whatever that is. She was good. Real good.
And that Lleyton, he was from Australia. He was like a little rabbit out there on that court, zoomin’ around, never seemed to get tired. He was a feisty one, that Lleyton. Lots of folks liked to watch him play. He was determined, they say. Fierce, I think is the word. He won a lot too.
They was gonna get married, ya know? ‘Round Christmas time, back in two thousand and three, I reckon. Announced it to the whole world, they did. Engagement, they called it. But, like a lot of them young folks, it didn’t last. Broke up less than a year later. Broke my heart, it did. They seemed so good together, you know, both lovin’ that tennis game.
They was together for four years, or somethin’ like that. That’s a long time, in my opinion. Four years playin’ tennis and all. A long time for young folks these days. Kim, she said later that bein’ with Lleyton was good for her. Said it helped her game, helped her win them tennis matches. Said she learned a lot from him. Imagine that.
She was a good girl, that Kim. Even that Lleyton, after they broke up, he said she was one of the best tennis players ever. That’s sayin’ somethin’, comin’ from him. He don’t just throw around compliments like that, I bet. She must have been really good.
Time flies, don’t it? Twenty years, they say, since all that happened. Twenty years since their engagement. Hard to believe. Seems like just yesterday they was all over the TV, hittin’ that ball back and forth.
- Kim Clijsters, she won a lot.
- Lleyton Hewitt, he was fast.
- They was gonna get hitched.
- Didn’t work out, though.
- Both good at tennis, real good.
That Kim, she played doubles, too. Partnered up with some other girl. Won Wimbledon and the French Open, doin’ that. She was all over the place, winnin’ everything. She was like a machine, that one. Just kept winnin’ and winnin’. She was tough. They say she was positive.
Lleyton, he went on and got married to someone else. Bec, her name was. Had a baby real quick, they did. Real quick. The first child was born soon. That was back in two thousand and five, I reckon. Time sure does fly, don’t it?
But them two, Kim and Lleyton, they were somethin’ special back in the day. A real tennis power couple, ya might say. Even though it didn’t last, they made a big splash. Lots of folks still remember ’em, I bet. Especially them that’s into that tennis.
She learned a lot during that phase of her life, that Kim. That’s what they said. That’s what she said, too, I think. It was a good time for her, I reckon, even if it was a long time ago. She was young, and she was good, and she was in love, I suppose. With that Lleyton and with that tennis, I guess.
They both were superstars. They were good at tennis. They were the best in the world. They had a good relationship. That’s what folks say. And people like to talk about them. A lot of folks.
Yep, that Kim and Lleyton, they were somethin’. A real love match, kinda sorta. But life goes on, don’t it? Even for them tennis stars. They had their time in the sun. And it was somethin’ to see, I tell ya. Somethin’ to see.
