So, I was just messing around online the other night, you know how it is. Finished up with work, grabbed a drink, and just started clicking through stuff. Wasn’t really looking for anything major, maybe checking out some game updates or what folks were chattering about on the forums I hang out on.
I was scrolling through one of the fighting game communities, I think it was a Discord server, maybe Reddit, can’t quite recall. Just reading people’s takes on recent matches, character balance, the usual stuff. Then I saw a thread pop up, buzzing more than usual. People were throwing around character names like crazy.

Naturally, I dove in. Took me a minute to piece together what was happening. Someone had apparently dropped a list, claiming it was the lineup for that Riot fighting game, Project L. My first thought was, “Okay, here we go again.” Leaks are dime a dozen these days, right?
I looked over the list people were posting and reposting. Scanned the names. Some made sense, felt like obvious picks from the League universe. Others had me scratching my head a bit, thinking “Really? Them?”. It’s always a mixed bag with these things.
Thinking About Leaks and Hype
Seeing that list got me thinking, though. It wasn’t just about the names on it. It was about how this stuff spreads like wildfire now. One minute it’s a whisper on some obscure forum, the next it’s everywhere, treated like gospel truth by some, dismissed as fake by others.
It kind of reminded me of a situation years ago, not in gaming, but a different field I was involved in. We were working on a project, super hush-hush, lots of planning. And then, boom, some internal details got out way before we were ready. It wasn’t the end of the world, but man, it caused some chaos internally. People scrambling, plans changing, lots of unnecessary stress trying to manage the fallout. It just throws a wrench in the works when things aren’t revealed on your own terms.
You see these lists and:
- You try to figure out if it’s legit.
- You compare it to your own wishlist.
- You start imagining the matchups.
It’s part of the fun, I guess, the speculation. But sometimes I wonder if we, as players, just need to chill out a bit. Let the developers cook. Let them have their moment to show us what they’ve built, the way they intended.

Anyway, back to the list itself… I read through the discussions, saw the arguments back and forth. Some folks were hyped, already picking mains. Others were disappointed their favorite wasn’t listed. The usual cycle.
For me? I just filed it away mentally. Interesting if true, but I’ll wait for the official word from Riot. No point getting too worked up about a maybe. Still, it was a bit of excitement on an otherwise quiet evening online. Just gotta take it all with a grain of salt, you know?
