Okay, so picture this: I finally carved out some time to dive back into Baldur’s Gate 3. I’m talking a whole Saturday afternoon, snacks ready, phone on silent – the works. I fired up the game, super hyped to continue my adventure, and… BAM! No UI. Like, nothing. Just my character standing there, looking lost, and a completely blank screen. No health bars, no minimap, no action buttons. Nada.
My first reaction? Total panic. I mean, I’d sunk a good chunk of hours into this playthrough, and the thought of losing progress was not appealing. I started mashing buttons randomly, hoping something would magically reappear. Spoiler alert: it didn’t.
Then I did that thing everyone does: restarted the game. You know, the classic “turn it off and on again” trick. Still nothing. I did it again, just for good luck, same frustratingly empty screen. My perfect gaming afternoon was quickly turning into a troubleshooting nightmare.
Next, I decided to verify the game files. I use Steam, so I right-clicked on Baldur’s Gate 3 in my library, went to “Properties,” then “Local Files,” and clicked that “Verify integrity of game files…” button. It chugged away for a bit, and I held my breath, hoping it would find some corrupted file and fix everything. Nope. Still no UI.
Trying Mods to Fix It.
At this point, I was getting seriously annoyed. So, I started digging around online. I checked forums, Reddit, you name it. I saw a few other people had similar issues, some pointing fingers at mods. Now, I do use a few mods, mostly cosmetic stuff, nothing too crazy. I have a mod manager to install my mods.
- I tried disabling all my mods, one by one, restarting the game after each one. Still no dice.
I was starting to lose hope. I even considered a full reinstall, but that felt like a last resort. I mean, downloading that huge game again? No thanks.
I went back to the internet, hunting for something, anything, I hadn’t tried yet.
Finally after some troubleshooting and searching the internet some more, I did a full reinstall of the game. And… it worked. UI came * might not for everyone, but at least for me I can play the game again!
