Alright, let’s talk about those blasted Valiant Gargoyles. Getting through that fight took me a bit, not gonna lie. Went in feeling pretty confident, came out humbled real quick the first few times.
So, first thing I did, like always, was just try to survive and watch. These guys hit hard, especially that first one with the twinblade. Lots of wide swings, kinda floaty movements. Then the second one pops up, the one with the halberd, spewing that awful poison everywhere. That’s usually when things went south fast for me. My usual sword and board setup just wasn’t cutting it. Damage felt kinda low, and I was getting overwhelmed when both were active.

Trying Different Stuff
I figured, okay, they look like they’re made of stone, right? So, maybe blunt force? I switched over to a big hammer I’d been upgrading, something that does pure Strike damage. First swing, I immediately noticed a difference. The health bar seemed to drop way more noticeably compared to my sword slashes. That felt promising.
Also tried tossing some magic pots, lightning specifically, because sometimes armored or stone enemies don’t like lightning. It seemed okay? Not amazing, but maybe a little better than my sword. Fire didn’t seem particularly special against them, which surprised me a bit.
The real game changer seemed to be that Strike damage though. Focusing on heavy jump attacks with the hammer also seemed to stagger them more often than my sword ever did. Breaking their poise felt super important, especially to get some free hits in before the second one decided to join the party properly.
Putting It Together
So, my successful run involved sticking close, dodging into their wide swings, and punishing with heavy hammer attacks. When the second gargoyle showed up, I tried my best to burst down the first one, the twinblade user, as quickly as possible using those heavy Strike hits. Having a good Spirit Ash summon helped distract one while I focused on the other.
The poison is still a massive pain. Having some neutralizing boluses ready is almost essential, or just trying really hard to stay out of the clouds it spews. It covers a huge area.
So, after bashing my head against that wall for a while, here’s what worked for me:

- Strike Damage: This felt like the biggest factor. Hammers, great hammers, maces – anything blunt seemed way more effective than slashing or piercing weapons.
- Poise Breaking: Heavy attacks, especially jump attacks with heavy weapons, seemed to stagger them reasonably well. Gives you breathing room.
- Aggression (Careful): Focusing down the first gargoyle before the second one fully engages helps a ton. It’s risky but makes the second phase more manageable.
- Poison Resistance/Cure: Be ready for that poison. Have items or spells to cure it, or gear that boosts resistance.
- Spirit Ash: A durable summon can really save your skin by pulling aggro from one of the gargoyles.
It wasn’t an easy fight even with figuring this out, but switching to a heavy Strike weapon made it feel much more doable. Hope this helps someone else stuck on these two!
