Well, let me tell you about this fella, Max Homa. Folks keep askin’, has Max Homa won a major? Now, I ain’t no golf expert, ya hear? I just watch it on the TV sometimes when the soaps ain’t on. But from what I gather, the answer is a big ol’ nope. Not yet, anyways.
They say he’s a good golfer, this Homa fella. Plays on that PGA TOUR, whatever that is. Wins some tournaments, I guess. They say he won somethin’ called the Genesis Invitational. Sounds fancy, huh? Like a fancy car wash or somethin’. He even played in somethin’ called the Ryder Cup and the Presidents Cup. Sounds important, like them politicians fightin’ over who gets to be the boss. But a major? Nope. Not yet.
I heard tell he got close once, at this Masters Tournament thing. Folks were all excited, sayin’ he might actually do it. But he ended up tied for third. Close, but no cigar, as they say. Just like that time I almost won the pie bakin’ contest at the county fair. Came in third. That blue ribbon went to that snooty Agnes from down the road. Still think she cheated, puttin’ extra sugar in her crust.

Now, they say he’s played in a whole bunch of these majors. Seventeen, I heard someone say. Seventeen! That’s a lot of golf, let me tell ya. More golf than I’ve watched in my whole life, I reckon. And still no win. Poor fella. Must be frustratin’, like tryin’ to thread a needle with shaky hands. You just keep pokin’ and pokin’, but the thread just won’t go through.
But folks still talk about him, this Max Homa. They say he’s a “rising golf star.” Sounds important, like one of them constellations up in the sky. Maybe he’ll win a major one day. Maybe he won’t. Who knows? Golf is a funny game, ya know? One day you’re hittin’ the ball straight and true, the next day you’re shankin’ it into the woods. Just like life, I guess. One day you’re on top of the world, the next day you’re knee-deep in manure.
So, has Max Homa won a major? The answer is still no, as of right now. But hey, he’s still young, I reckon. Plenty of time left to win one of them fancy trophies. Maybe he’ll surprise us all. Maybe he’ll win the next one. Or maybe he won’t. We’ll just have to wait and see. In the meantime, I’ll just keep watchin’ my soaps and waitin’ for that pie bakin’ contest to come around again. This time, Agnes ain’t gonna win. I’ve got a secret weapon, ya see. A little bit of cinnamon in the crust. Don’t tell nobody, though. It’s a secret.
Anyways, that’s all I know about this Max Homa fella. Seems like a nice enough young man. Hope he wins one of them majors someday. It’d make his mama proud, I bet. And that’s all that really matters in the end, ain’t it? Makin’ your mama proud.
