Okay, so, I wanted to try out this “Grey Zone Warfare” game, specifically the “When a Tree Falls” task. I’d heard it was a bit tricky, so I figured I’d document my struggles and, hopefully, eventual success.
First Attempts… Ouch
First, I spawned in. I spent a good amount of time just figuring out the map, running around like a headless chicken. I got my bearings, eventually, but not without a few close calls with some AI enemies. Those guys are surprisingly accurate!
Then I tried to find the actual spot. The task description was super vague! I kept looking for a downed tree, expecting some big, obvious landmark. I searched and searched, getting increasingly frustrated.
- I checked the map a million times.
- I asked in the in-game chat if anyone had tips (no luck).
- I even tried to follow some random players, hoping they knew where they were going (they didn’t).
Finally… Found It!
After what felt like forever, I stumbled upon it! I was looking way too hard. The Key clue is a fallen tree, there have three of them, I found one of the fallen trees and I finally found the crashed helicopter. It turns out that the correct fallen tree is near the crashed helicopter. I was going to the wrong place.
Once I got to the right area, completing the task itself was pretty straightforward. I grabbed the item, made my way back to base, and handed it in. Easy peasy… once you know where to look!
Lessons Learned
My main takeaway? Don’t overthink it! The task location is the key. And maybe watch a few more gameplay videos before jumping in next time. Saves a lot of running around!
