Alright, so I finally got around to tackling the ‘Final Liberation’ task Handshake gave me. Felt like one of those jobs that needed doing for a while, you know? Took a deep breath and decided today was the day.
Getting Set Up
First thing, I checked my gear. Didn’t want anything too fancy, just reliable stuff. Grabbed my go-to M4, made sure I had enough mags, probably five or six, just in case. Slapped on some decent armor, nothing too heavy ’cause I knew I might need to move fast. Packed the usual meds – bandages, a surgical kit, maybe a painkiller or two. Oh, and water, always gotta have water. Kept the backpack pretty light overall. Just the mission essentials.

Heading Out to the Sawmill
Got myself over to the helipad and called for a ride. Picked an LZ that was kinda close to the Sawmill but not right on top of it. Figured I’d rather walk in quiet than land right in the middle of trouble. The flight over was pretty standard, just watched the trees go by, mentally prepping for what was waiting down there.
Hopped off the chopper once we landed. Took a moment to get my bearings, then started moving towards the objective. Tried to stick to cover, used the trees and bushes. You never know where eyes might be watching. Heard some distant gunfire, pretty normal for this area, didn’t sound too close though. Just kept pushing forward, nice and steady.
The Action Bit
As I got closer to the Sawmill perimeter, I spotted the first couple of tangos. Standard guards, seemed a bit bored. Managed to take them down without raising too much fuss. That always feels good, starting off clean.
Moved up towards the main buildings. This is where it usually gets messy. Sure enough, more hostiles milling about. Found myself in a proper firefight near those big stacks of logs. Those guys use cover pretty well sometimes, gotta give ’em that. Had to flank one guy who was pinned down behind a tractor. Tossed a grenade into one of the small sheds to convince someone to come out – or, well, stop shooting from in there.
Once things quieted down a bit, I started the search. Handshake mentioned checking the office spaces. Went through a couple of the larger sheds first, mostly junk and scrap wood. Then I found the building that looked more like an admin office.
Cleared it room by room. Found the documents Handshake wanted sitting right on a desk in one of the back rooms. Honestly, after all that fighting, finding the objective just sitting there felt a bit anticlimactic, but hey, I wasn’t complaining. Scooped them up quickly.

Getting Back Home
Didn’t hang around to admire the scenery. Objective secured, time to leave. Backtracked carefully, didn’t want to run into any respawns or patrols I missed on the way in. Kept my eyes peeled the whole way back to the extraction point.
Found a relatively safe spot and called in the chopper. The wait always feels longer when you’re exposed like that. Heard the rotors finally chopping through the air, big relief. Scrambled aboard as soon as it touched down.
The flight back was smooth. Landed, went straight to Handshake, handed over the documents. He seemed pleased enough. Task complete. Felt good, you know? Getting one of the main tasks done. It wasn’t the hardest thing I’ve done, but required some patience and careful clearing. Just another job ticked off the list.
