Okay, so I wanted to make some progress on my Honkai: Star Rail account, specifically farming those Firefly materials. I’ve heard it can be a bit of a grind, so I figured I’d document my experience and see what I could learn.
First things first, I needed to figure out where to even find these “mats.” I did a bit of digging online – mostly just quick searches and checking some community forums. Turns out, I needed a bunch of stuff, mainly from the “Calyx (Crimson): Bud of Destruction” and the Stagnant Shadow for the “Raging Heart” item.

The Calyx Grind
I started with the Calyx. I already had it unlocked, thankfully. My main team is pretty decent now, so I could auto-battle it without too much trouble. I set it to run six times, grabbed a drink, and let it do its thing.
The first few runs went smoothly. I got a good mix of the lower-tier and mid-tier materials. I made sure to keep track of my inventory. This way, I have better understand how many I got and how many more I need.
- Run 1: Got some basic “Shattered Blade” and a couple of “Lifeless Blade.”
- Run 2: More of the same, nothing special.
- Run 3: Finally, a “Worldbreaker Blade”! It is the rare one.
- Run 4-6: A mix of everything, mostly the lower-tier stuff.
After those six runs, I took stock. I had a decent amount of the basic materials, but I definitely needed more of the “Worldbreaker Blade” to ascend Firefly all the way. This is going to take a while.
The Stagnant Shadow Struggle
Next up was the Stagnant Shadow. This one was a bit tougher. I had to manually control my team to make sure I didn’t get wiped. I used a team that I knew was strong against the boss’s weaknesses, which helped a lot. I have Seele, Bronya, Tingyun and Bailu. The boss is weak to Lightning, so that’s why I chose the team.
The first couple of fights were pretty close. I almost lost a character a few times, but I managed to pull through. I learned pretty quickly that I needed to focus on breaking the boss’s toughness to avoid getting hit by its big attacks.
I only had enough Trailblaze Power for a few runs, but I managed to get a handful of “Raging Heart.” Not as many as I’d hoped, but it was a start. I knew I’d have to come back later and farm some more.

The Long Haul
So, that’s where I’m at now. I’ve made some progress, but I’ve still got a long way to go. I’m going to need to spend a lot more time grinding the Calyx and Stagnant Shadow to get everything I need for Firefly.
My plan for now is to just keep chipping away at it. I’ll do a few runs of each every day, and hopefully, I’ll eventually have enough materials. It’s definitely a marathon, not a sprint! I’ll probably focus on the Calyx first since it’s easier to auto-battle, and then tackle the Stagnant Shadow when I have more time to focus.
