Alright, let’s talk about this Fragpunk thing, whatever it is. Heard some folks jabberin’ about a “playtest,” sounds fancy, huh? Like them city folks with their newfangled gadgets.
So, this Fragpunk, it’s like a game, you know? Them young’uns are always playin’ these games, shootin’ and jumpin’ around on their screens. This one, they say it’s a “5v5 hero shooter.” Don’t ask me what that means, sounds like a whole lotta ruckus to me. But I guess it’s like teams, five on each side, and they got these “heroes,” probably folks with special powers or somethin’. Like them comic books my grandson reads.
Now, they’re plannin’ some kinda “test” for this game. A “Closed Beta” they call it. Closed, meaning not everyone gets to jump in, I reckon. And Beta? Well, that’s like when they’re still figurin’ things out, makin’ sure the game ain’t broke before they let everyone have at it. They did this before too, a “Closed Alpha” they called it. Seems like they’re always testin’ and testin’, can’t they just get it right the first time? Kids these days, so impatient!
This here Beta test, they say it’s startin’ on October 10th, 2024, and runnin’ till October 21st, 2024. That’s what the talk is, anyways. And it’s for folks in “North America, Europe, LATAM.” Wherever them places are. Sounds far off, might as well be on the moon for all I care. They say it’s gonna be on somethin’ called “Steam” and “Xbox Series X|S.” Don’t know what them are, probably some fancy boxes them kids plug into their walls.
And get this, they say it’s “fast-paced.” Means it’s quick, I guess. Like them rabbits in my garden, always dartin’ around. And they keep sayin’ it’s gonna be “fun.” Well, I hope so, for all the trouble they’re goin’ through. They also blabber on about “a surprising amount of depth.” Sounds like they’re tryin’ to make it more than just shootin’, maybe some thinkin’ involved too. But I doubt it’ll be as hard as workin’ in the fields all day.
They even had some kinda “trailer” durin’ somethin’ called “TGS 2024.” A trailer? Like for a tractor? Probably not. Probably some kinda video to show off the game. These city folk sure do like their fancy words. And this whole thing is made by a company called “NetEase Games” and another one called “Bad Guitar Studio.” Bad Guitar? Sounds like my nephew tryin’ to play music. Anyways, they’re the ones makin’ this here Fragpunk thing.

Oh, and I heard tell there was another test before, in June. From June 27th to July 1st. Seems like they can’t make up their minds, always fiddlin’ with things. But I guess that’s how they do it these days. Always changin’ and updatin’. Can’t just leave well enough alone.
So, there you have it. That’s all I know about this Fragpunk next playtest, or whatever they call it. Sounds like a whole lotta fuss over a game, if you ask me. But them young’uns seem to like it, so who am I to judge? They’ll probably be glued to their screens, shootin’ and hollerin’ while I’m out here tendin’ to my chickens.
And if you’re wonderin’ about “Crossplay,” well, it means folks on different machines can play together, I think. Like them city folk with their different cars, but all drivin’ on the same road. They sure do like to complicate things, don’t they? But hey, as long as they’re havin’ fun, I guess it’s alright. Just hope they don’t forget to come up for dinner.
Now, I gotta go, got chores to do. Can’t be sittin’ here all day talkin’ about these games. But if you hear anything else about this Fragpunk thing, you let me know. Maybe I’ll even try it out myself, once they finally figure out what they’re doin’.
