Alright, folks, let’s talk about Surge in Brawl Stars. I’ve been messing around with him a lot lately, trying to find a build that really clicks. And I think I’ve finally cracked it. This isn’t some “pro” guide, just what’s been working for me in my matches.
First, I started by experimenting with different Star Powers. “Serve Ice Cold” seemed like a good pick initially, keep that super range! But I realized that I was so focused on upgrading and not dying that it didn’t matter.

My Go-To Surge Setup:
- Star Power: “To The Max!” – This is the key. Splitting his main attack is huge for hitting multiple enemies or getting around corners. I found myself winning way more 1v1s because of this.
- Gadget: “Power Surge” – It’s a no-brainer. That instant teleport is a lifesaver and a great way to initiate fights. I used it to escape, to chase, pretty much everything.
Gears, Gears, Gears!
I played around with different gear combinations, and here’s what stuck:
- Damage Gear: extra damage help me more aggressive
- Shield Gear: more health is always welcome on Surge.
Putting it All Together
The whole strategy is about being aggressive, but smart. I focused on getting that first Super as quickly as possible. Don’t be afraid to poke and charge it up, even if you take a little damage.
Once you have your Super, use “Power Surge” to jump into a good position. If you use “To The Max!” Star Power, you can aim to get the split to hit the enemies. Upgrade, keep pressuring, and repeat. Use your Super to close the gap, dodge shots, or even just to scare enemies away.
It took a lot of practice. I died… a lot. But eventually, I started to get the hang of it. My win rate with Surge definitely improved after settling on this build. Give it a try, and let me know what you think! It might not be perfect for everyone, but it’s been a blast for me.
