So, I decided it was time to get my Changli properly leveled up, you know, ascension time. First thing I did was pop open the character screen to see what kind of stuff I actually needed. It’s always a list, isn’t it?
Figuring Out the Materials
Okay, looked like the usual suspects. Needed those character EXP things, got a bunch saved up but probably not enough for the long haul. Then there was this specific boss drop, looked like some kind of fiery core or something. Had to check which boss dropped it. Turned out it was that big mechanical bird dude… the Tempest Mephis? Yeah, that one. Not my favorite fight, but gotta do what you gotta do.

Also needed a local plant, some kind of red flower. Think it was called Coriolus. That meant running around specific areas. Found a few guides online showing good routes, but honestly, I just started exploring zones that looked likely, marking spots on my own map where I found clusters. It’s kinda relaxing sometimes, just running around grabbing plants, until you realize you need like, a hundred more.
And of course, the enemy drops. For Changli, it seemed to be those mask things dropped by the Exile enemies, the guys you see wandering all over the place. Needed the basic ones, the green ones, and eventually the blue and purple ones too. That just means finding camps and beating up loads of them.
Don’t forget the Shell Credits! Always need more money. Everything costs money.
The Actual Grind
Alright, plan sorted. So, the routine began. First, I used up my Waveplates – that’s the energy stuff – mostly on fighting that Tempest Mephis boss. Teleported near its arena, ran in, beat it up, collected the rewards, waited for it to respawn or just logged off and did it again later when the energy refilled. Did this over and over. Got quite good at dodging its attacks after a few tries.
When I ran out of energy or got bored of the boss, I went hunting for those Coriolus flowers. I had my little route marked out by then. Started in one spot, ran along the cliffs or fields picking them up, then moved to the next marked area. Takes a while, and they only respawn every couple of days, so I had to make sure I logged in often enough to grab them when they were back.
For the enemy masks, I found a few spots where lots of those Exile guys hang out. Usually near ruins or camps. I’d just go there, clear the whole place out, grab the loot, then move to the next spot or wait for them to respawn. It’s repetitive, yeah, but you can switch your brain off and just do it while listening to music or something.
- Fought Tempest Mephis repeatedly for its unique drop.
- Ran specific routes every 48 hours or so to collect Coriolus.
- Farmed Exile enemy camps for their mask drops.
- Did daily quests and simulation training for EXP materials and Shell Credits when needed.
Getting There
It took a good few days of consistent effort, logging in, using my energy, doing the farming routes. Sometimes I’d focus just on the boss, other times I’d spend an hour just running around collecting flowers and beating up mobs. Slowly but surely, the numbers went up. Checked the character screen again, saw I finally had enough of everything for the next ascension level.
Hit that ascend button, watched the little animation. Felt pretty good, not gonna lie. But yeah, getting all those Wuthering Waves ascension materials for Changli was definitely a process. Now, gotta start thinking about the next level… it never really ends, does it?
