So, I decided to dive into this whole “family legacy” thing, you know, preserving memories and stuff. I called it “Family Legacy Once Human” because, well, it’s about us, the humans in the family!
First, I gathered all the old photo albums. You know, the dusty ones from the attic? It was like an archaeological dig, uncovering layers of family history. I found pictures of my great-grandparents looking all serious, and hilarious shots of my parents with questionable 80s hairstyles.

- Sorting: I spent days just sorting photos. Chronological order seemed like the way to go, but honestly, it was more like organized chaos.
- Scanning: Then came the scanning. My old scanner was slow, but it got the job done. Image by image.
- Labeling:I try my best to label the photo with the name and date.
Next, I moved on to documents. Birth certificates, marriage licenses, old letters… it was a treasure trove of information. I even found a handwritten recipe for my grandma’s famous apple pie! I carefully unfolded each piece of paper, trying not to tear anything. Some of those letters were so fragile.
Digital organization
Once everything was scanned, I created digital folders. “Photos,” “Documents,” “Recipes,” etc. Seemed pretty straightforward. The real challenge? Backing it all up. I ended up using an external hard drive and a cloud storage service, just to be safe.
Finally, I thought about how to share all of this. I could just send everyone a link to the cloud storage, but that seemed impersonal. Maybe I’ll create a simple family website or something. Still working on that part.
It was a lot of work, I have to say that, but totally worth it. It’s like I’ve pieced together a puzzle of my family’s past, and now I can share it with everyone. It’s our story, you know? And that’s pretty special.
