Alright, so I decided to tackle the Elden Ring family tree thing. Man, the lore in this game is something else, right? It’s all over the place, hidden in item descriptions, bits of dialogue you might miss. I kept getting characters mixed up, especially all those demigods.
Getting Started – The Messy Phase
First off, I just started playing the game again, but this time really paying attention to who’s who and what they say about each other. I had a notebook next to me, just jotting down names every time they came up. Godfrey, Marika, Radagon, Rennala, all their kids… it got messy fast. Lots of crossed-out lines and question marks.

I spent a good chunk of time just reading item descriptions. You know, like the Remembrances, character armor sets, talismans. It’s crazy how much story FromSoft hides in those little text boxes. Some connections were obvious, like Rennala being Ranni, Radahn, and Rykard’s mom. Others… not so much.
Connecting the Dots (and the Headaches)
The big headache was Marika and Radagon. Figuring out they’re like, the same person? Or two halves of one? That took some rereading and thinking. It really messes with a simple tree structure. I kinda had to draw a weird merged box for them.
Then there’s Godfrey, the first Elden Lord. His kids – Godwyn, Morgott, Mohg. Okay, that seemed straightforward at first. But then you have the whole Omen thing with Morgott and Mohg. And Godwyn’s fate, becoming the Prince of Death, that adds another layer.
I also listed out the Carian side with Rennala. Ranni, Radahn, Rykard. Linking them back to Radagon was key. Ranni’s story, especially, branching off with her own goals and discarding her Empyrean flesh, that needed its own little side note.
And don’t forget Malenia and Miquella! Children of Marika and Radagon. That specific parentage is super important and kinda cursed, which explains a lot about them.
Trying to Make it Make Sense Visually
After gathering all the names and connections I could find, I tried putting it into a visual format.

- Started with Marika/Radagon at the top (or maybe center?).
- Branched out to Godfrey and their kids.
- Branched out to Rennala and Radagon’s kids.
- Added Malenia and Miquella as kids of Marika/Radagon directly.
- Tried to indicate relationships like marriage, parentage, and maybe even stuff like adoption or step-relations (like Ranni and her siblings’ view of Godfrey maybe?).
I first sketched it on paper, which looked like a spiderweb drawn by a drunk spider. Then I tried using a simple online diagram tool. Just boxes and lines, nothing fancy. Labeled the lines with ‘married’, ‘parent of’, ‘child of’, ‘same being?’ (for Marika/Radagon).
The Result (So Far)
So now I have this chart. It’s… functional. It shows the main players: Marika, Radagon, Godfrey, Rennala, and their messy offspring like Godwyn, Morgott, Mohg, Ranni, Radahn, Rykard, Malenia, Miquella. I even put little notes for things like Godrick the Grafted, showing he’s way down the line, a weaker descendant of the Golden Lineage.
Is it perfect? Heck no. There are still bits that are super speculative, based on interpretation. Like the exact nature of the Outer Gods’ influence or some minor character relations. But it helps me keep track of the main family drama when I’m thinking about the lore.
It was a fun little project, digging through everything and trying to piece it together. Makes you appreciate the tangled web the writers created. Definitely helped clear up some confusion I had just playing through normally.
