Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this idea I had, right? I’m calling it “fontaine visions,” and it’s basically just me trying to recreate those cool character introduction animations from Genshin Impact, but, like, my own version. It’s been a wild ride, let me tell you.
First, I started by just watching a ton of those character showcases. You know, the ones where they show off the new characters with all the fancy effects and transitions? Yeah, I watched those like a hawk, trying to figure out how they did it.

Then, I jumped into Blender. Now, I’m no Blender pro, but I know my way around the basics. I started with a simple plane, just a flat surface, and started experimenting with different materials and textures. I wanted that watery, reflective look that Fontaine characters have, so I played around with the metallic and roughness settings until I got something I liked.
- Experimented with different shaders to achieve the reflective, water-like appearance.
- Tried various lighting setups to highlight the character model.
Next up was the animation. This was the tricky part. I imported a basic character model (nothing fancy, just a placeholder) and started messing with the camera movements. I wanted that slow pan and zoom effect they use in the showcases. Lots of trial and error here. I keyframed the camera’s position and rotation, tweaked the curves, and watched it back a million times until it felt right.
I spent hours just adjusting the timing and the easing of the camera movements. It’s amazing how much difference a few frames can make. I also added some simple particle effects, like little floating sparkles, to give it that extra bit of magic.
After a lot more fiddling and rendering, I finally had something I was kinda proud of. It’s not perfect, but it captures that essence I was going for. It felt like one of those actual introduction, that is so cool!
What I Learned
That’s all I want to share today, I’ll keep on digging this!
