Alright, guys, let’s talk about Robustness in Elden Ring. I’ve been messing around with this stat, and I wanted to share what I’ve learned so far. I spent a good chunk of yesterday just trying different things out.
So, first things first, I started a new character. Yeah, I know, I have like five already, but I wanted a clean slate to really see the effects of Robustness. I went with the Wretch class, because, why not? Naked and afraid, that’s how I like to start my experiments.

Initial Testing – Getting My Butt Kicked
- Gathered some basic gear. I just ran around Limgrave, grabbing whatever I could find – some cloth armor, a rusty sword. Nothing fancy.
- Found some enemies to test on. Those little goblin dudes near the starting area? Perfect punching bags.
- Noted down the status effects. I wanted to see how quickly I got poisoned, bled, or whatever. Got a little notebook and everything. Super scientific, I know.
I let those goblins wail on me, without raising my Robustness at all. Poison built up pretty fast, I gotta say. Bleed too, those little knives they have are surprisingly sharp. Took a while to get Frostbite, though, even when I went up north a bit.
Leveling Up and Comparing
Then, I started pumping points into Vigor. That’s the main stat for Robustness, right? More health, more resistance. Simple enough. I did this in chunks, leveling up, then going back to the same enemies to get hit some more.
The higher the Robustness the better, so leveling up Vigor helps you not to be affected for longer, good for longer fights.
I also tried on some heavier armor. That helped, obviously, but it also made me move like a pregnant yak. Trade-offs, I guess.
Then, I started pumping points into Endurance. Then I noticed that my equip load increased and so, my defenses, so I could wear heavier armor and have more Robustness.
The Results (So Far)
Here’s the deal: Higher Robustness definitely makes a difference. I could take way more hits before getting poisoned or bled. Frostbite still took a while, but it wasn’t as bad. It’s not a magic bullet, though. You still gotta dodge, you still gotta heal, you still gotta, you know, “git gud.”

But, if you’re like me and you tend to get hit a lot (no shame in that!), then investing in Robustness is worth it. Especially if you hate those annoying status effects. Nobody likes getting poisoned in a boss fight, am I right?
I’m still messing around with different builds and gear, so this isn’t the final word on Robustness. But hopefully, this helps some of you out there. It’s all about experimenting and finding what works for you. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go get beat up by some more goblins. For science!
