Okay, so I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz about the “Easy Bleed” Ash of War in Elden Ring, and I figured, why not give it a shot myself? I’m not the best player, but I do love experimenting. Here’s how it went down:
Locating The Thing
First things first, I needed to actually find this Ash of War. I’m not one for endlessly searching, so I did some online searching, found out that I needed to head to the Fort Haight.

It’s in the Mistwood area, and Fort Haight is basiclly in the southeast corner of the whole area.
Getting in there, I just ran past all the enemies, got to the top, and there it was, a knight dude. Beat him up real fast.
After I beat that knight, he dropped the Ash of War: Bloody Slash. Awesome!
Slapping It On a Weapon
Next, I needed a weapon to actually put this thing on. I went with my trusty Uchigatana, ’cause, well, katanas are cool, and it already had some bleed on it. Seemed like a good fit.
- I zipped over to a Site of Grace.
- Chose the “Ashes of War” option.
- Picked my Uchigatana.
- Selected “Bloody Slash”.
- And boom! Done.
The game gives you a little warning about how it’ll lower some stats but increase bleed. I was okay with that, bleed is the whole point, right?
Test Run!
Now for the fun part – testing it out! I went back to some low-level areas where I could really see the difference. And, wow, did it make a difference.

- Enemies that used to take a few hits? Down in one or two.
- Bigger guys? Still went down faster, especially when that bleed proc’d. It’s so satisfying to see that big chunk of health disappear.
Bloody Slash itself is a cool move. Your character does this little wind-up and then slashes, sending out a wave of blood. It does cost a bit of your own HP, but honestly, it’s worth it.
My Verdict
So, is the “Easy Bleed” Ash of War all it’s cracked up to be? For me, absolutely. It’s a simple way to boost your damage, especially early on, and it just makes the game feel…easier. I’m definitely keeping this on my Uchigatana for the foreseeable future. If you’re struggling or just want to melt some enemies, I’d say give it a try. It’s pretty fun!
