Alright, so I saw a lot of buzz about the new Colossal Weapons in the Elden Ring DLC. I figured, “Hey, I gotta try these out!” So, I booted up the game, ready to smash some stuff.
First things first, I had to actually find one of these bad boys. I spent a good chunk of time just exploring the new areas, poking around every corner. I mean, that’s half the fun of these games, right? Just wandering and seeing what you stumble across.

Getting My Hands on the Goods
Eventually, after a few… uh… unexpected deaths (let’s just say those new enemies hit HARD), I found a chest tucked away in this creepy, ruined temple. And boom! Inside was this massive, glowing hammer. I’m not gonna lie, I felt like a total badass just holding it.
The first thing I noticed? These things are SLOW. Like, really slow. I swung that hammer, and it felt like it took a full year for it to connect. I definitely had to adjust my playstyle. No more quick dodging and rolling. I had to learn to time my attacks perfectly.
-
Patience is Key:
I learned pretty quickly that button-mashing was NOT going to work. I had to wait for the right opening, commit to the attack, and hope for the best.
-
Staggering is Your Friend:
When those big swings do connect, they hit like a truck. I was staggering enemies left and right, opening them up for some serious damage. It felt amazing.
- Embrace the Tank: With such slow swings, I wasn’t dodging much. I had to pump up my endurance and vitality. Basically, I became a walking fortress.
It took some practice, and there were a few more “learning experiences” (read: deaths), but I eventually got the hang of it. There’s something incredibly satisfying about landing a hit with one of these Colossal Weapons. It’s like you’re a one-person wrecking crew.
So, yeah, that’s my experience with the new Colossal Weapons so far. They’re definitely not for everyone, but if you’re patient and like feeling like a god of destruction, you should absolutely give them a shot!
