Alright, let’s talk about this here… thingamajig, this ancient autoharmonic music box. Don’t rightly know what all them fancy words mean, but I reckon it’s a purdy important little box, see? They say it’s a quest item, whatever that means. Sounds like somethin’ them city folk would be fussin’ over.
Now, from what I gather, you gotta go on some kinda adventure to get this here music box. It’s part of a big to-do called “The Shadow Over Petrichor,” or some such nonsense. Sounds spooky, if you ask me. You gotta follow a little cat, mind you, a real live kitty, down into a hole in the ground. That cat, he gives you the music box right there in the dark.
Once you get the box, it ain’t just a box, see? It’s got a symphony in it. A what now? A symphony! Like a bunch of noises all put together, I guess. You can find both the box and the symphony in your “quest items” thingy. Sounds like a lot of clutter to me, but what do I know?
- First thing you gotta do is find this place called Locus Amoenus. Sounds foreign, don’t it? But that’s where the whole shebang starts.
- Then you gotta follow that cat, like I said, down into a hole. Don’t get lost now!
- You get the music box, happy as a clam, and it’s got this here first symphony in it. Keep it safe, you hear?
But that ain’t the end of it, no sirree! This music box, it’s got more to it than meets the eye. You gotta go around collectin’ more of them symphonies. Sounds like a wild goose chase if you ask me, but them city folk seem to like it.
There’s this fella, a Local Legend they call him. Sounds important, maybe a big strong fella. You gotta go and beat him, whatever that means. Maybe wrestle him? I dunno. But once you do, you can get another symphony from him. They call it “extracting” the symphony, sounds kinda messy to me.
And you gotta keep doin’ that, see? Findin’ places, beatin’ folks, gettin’ them symphonies. There’s six of ’em in all, six! That’s a whole lotta noise, if you ask me. But if you get all six, you get some kinda fancy achievement. “Echoes of the Grand Symphony,” they call it. Sounds like somethin’ they’d put in the newspaper, right next to the prize-winning pig at the county fair.
Now, they got these things called scores too. Sounds like sheet music to me, the kind them piano players use. These scores, they tell you where to find the symphonies. Like a treasure map, I guess. Here’s what I heard about where to find ’em:
Number one, like I said, is at that Locus Amoenus place. That’s where it all starts, remember? You gotta start the quest, whatever that means, and then you go find the score. Simple as pie, they say. But pie ain’t always so simple, is it?
I ain’t sure about the rest of them scores though, just heard talk about the first one. Reckon you gotta find them yourself if you want the whole set. They say the fourth score is important too, but didn’t hear where it is. Maybe hidden under a rock somewhere, or maybe a squirrel’s got it, who knows?
So that’s the gist of it, this here ancient autoharmonic music box ain’t just some toy. It’s a whole big adventure, with cats and holes and legends and symphonies. More trouble than it’s worth, if you ask me. But them city folk, they love this kinda stuff. Me? I’d rather sit on the porch with a glass of sweet tea. But hey, to each their own, right?
Anyway, good luck with your quest and all that. Hope you don’t get lost or eaten by a bear. And for goodness sake, keep that cat out of trouble. Them critters are always up to somethin’.
