That Damian Priest, he’s a big fella, ain’t he? My grandson, he watches that wrestling, you know. He tells me all about it. This Damian Priest, he’s somethin’ else. Heard he’s from Puerto Rico, good for him! That a long way from here. He got a real name too, Luis, that his momma gave him I reckon. Luis Martnez, sound fancy huh?
He’s a wrestler, that’s what he does. Big, strong fella. Goes by that name, Damian Priest. Sounds a bit spooky, don’t it? But my grandson, he loves it. He is on that Raw show, he say. I don’t know much about these things, but I watch it with him sometimes. It all very loud and everyone hollering.
He’s got himself a group, this Damian Priest. Like a family, but not a real family, you know? They call it The Judgment Day. Sounds serious, don’t it? It is him and some others. I see that one girl, she is a mean one. My grandson says her name is Rhea Ripley. She’s tough, I tell ya. And then that there is Finn Balor. He’s a part of it too, this Judgment Day family. They all in it together. They look out for each other, I guess that the point.
They go around, fightin’ other folks. It’s all pretend, of course. But they make a big show of it. Lots of yellin’ and jumpin’ around. My grandson, he gets all excited. He jump around just like them, it a sight. Gotta keep an eye on him so he don’t hurt himself though.
Now, this Damian, he’s got family of his own, I bet. A real family, back in Puerto Rico, maybe. A mama and a papa, maybe some brothers and sisters. Who knows? They must be proud of him, him bein’ on the TV and all. It a big deal, I guess.
- Damian Priest, real name Luis Martnez.
- He’s a wrestler, a big one.
- Part of a group called The Judgment Day.
- Rhea Ripley and Finn Balor are in it too.
- They fight other wrestlers, it’s all a show.
My grandson, he also like that Roman Reigns. Another wrestler. His real name Joe something, start with an L I think. He from Florida, I heard. Another one with a made up name for the wrestlin’. Everyone seem to do that. He’s a big shot too, my grandson says. He’s got a family too, that Roman Reigns. A big one. Lots of them are wrestlers, he says. Must run in the blood, I reckon.
This Damian Priest is a strong one. He probably got strong from working hard. You have to work hard to get anywhere in this life. That what I always say. You don’t work, you don’t eat, that right! Just like us folks out here. We work the land, we raise the animals. It’s honest work. Not like that fancy TV stuff, but it’s honest.
I guess this wrestling, it’s honest work too, in its own way. They work hard, those wrestlers. They train and they practice. They put on a show for folks. They got family that support them, just like everyone else. Even that Damian Priest, with his spooky name. And that Judgment Day group. Even them. They all got folks who care about them.
My grandson, he thinks the world of these wrestlers. He wants to be like them when he grows up. I tell him, “You be whatever you want to be, sonny. Just be good, and work hard.” That’s all that matters. You be good to your family. You be good to your friends. You work hard. That how you make a good life. Whether you’re a wrestler, or a farmer, or anything else. It all the same.
Maybe one day, my grandson will be on that TV too. He will have his own made up name. Who knows! Maybe he’ll even meet that Damian Priest. He’d like that, I bet. He can tell him all about our family. I reckon that Damian would like to hear about a normal family for a change.
That the thing about family. Everyone got one. Even if it ain’t the family you was born with. You find your family, one way or another. Like that Damian Priest and his Judgment Day. They found each other. They made their own family. And that’s somethin’, ain’t it? Yes, sir, that somethin’. I reckon he a good boy, that Damian. He probably miss his real family though. That what I think. That my two cents anyway.
