Okay, so, “chase the butterflies into the medicine jar.” Sounds kinda weird, right? But it’s actually about this little art project I decided to tackle. I’ve got this plain old medicine jar, and I was like, “This needs some life.” I’d seen these cool butterfly crafts, so I figured, why not combine them?
Getting Started
First, I gathered my supplies. It was a simple list:

- The empty medicine jar (obviously).
- Some fake butterflies – I picked these up from a craft store, all different colors and sizes.
- Thin wire – the bendy kind, for mounting the butterflies.
- Glue – I used a hot glue gun, ’cause it’s quick and strong.
- Some moss and tiny fake flowers – for a bit of a “nature” vibe inside the jar.
Putting it Together
The first thing I did was prep the butterflies. I snipped off any weird plastic bits and bent the wire to make little stands. I wanted them to look like they were flying at different heights, you know?
Next, I worked on the base. I spread a thin layer of glue on the bottom of the jar and stuck down the moss. Then, I added the little fake flowers here and there, just to make it look a bit more interesting.
Now for the tricky part: the butterflies! I carefully applied hot glue to the end of each wire stand and stuck them onto the moss, trying to arrange them in a way that looked natural. Some were “flying” higher, others were closer to the “ground.”
I held each butterfly in place for a few seconds until the glue cooled and set. It was a bit fiddly, and I definitely burned my fingers a couple of times (oops!). But slowly, the jar started to fill up with colorful butterflies.
The Finished Product
After I placed all the butterflies, I just let everything dry completely. And that was it! My plain old medicine jar was now this whimsical little butterfly sanctuary. It’s not perfect, the wire is a bit visible, but it still makes me happy just to look at. Plus, you can add some battery powered lights into the jar and make it more beautiful.
It was a fun, easy project, and it definitely brightened up my room. If you’re looking for a simple craft to do, I totally recommend giving this a try!
