Alright, alright, let’s talk about this… uh… Charley Hull, yeah, that’s the name. Heard some folks chatterin’ ‘bout her, sayin’ she’s somethin’ special. Now, I don’t know nothin’ ‘bout golf, never swung a club in my life, but I can tell ya if someone’s makin’ a fuss, there’s gotta be somethin’ to it. So, let’s see what all the hullabaloo is about, this Charley Hull hot stuff they’re talkin’ ‘bout.
First off, they say she’s winnin’ stuff. Big golf games, they call ‘em “majors.” Sounds fancy. Apparently, she ain’t won one of them big ones yet, but she’s been close, real close. Second place, they say. Like that time my Bessie almost won the pie contest at the county fair, but old Martha’s apple pie just pipped her to the post. Close, but no cigar, as they say. But this Charley girl, she keeps tryin’, that’s for sure. They say she’s been changin’ up her trainin’, workin’ on gettin’ fitter. Good for her, I say. Gotta stay strong if you wanna swing them sticks all day long.
Now, they also mention she won somethin’ recent-like. Down in some place called “Belleair, Florida.” Don’t know where that is, but it sounds warm. Anyways, she won a game there, first win in a long time, they say. More than two years! That’s a long spell. Like that time my chickens stopped layin’ eggs, thought I was gonna have to eat nothin’ but beans for a month. But then, just like this Charley girl, they started layin’ again, good as new. See, persistence, that’s the ticket.

Good for her, I say. Work hard, play hard, that’s what I always tell my grandkids. Though, I don’t know nothin’ ‘bout playin’ golf, seems like a lot of walkin’ to me. I’d rather be sittin’ on my porch, sippin’ sweet tea. But hey, to each their own.
And get this, this Charley girl, she used to be married to some fella who fights in them cage matches. MMA, they call it. Sounds rough. Ozzie Smith, his name was. Don’t know what happened there, but they ain’t hitched no more. Guess she’s focused on her golf now. Probably for the best. Fightin’ ain’t for everyone, just like golf ain’t for me.
So, this Charley Hull hot topic, it’s all about this girl winnin’ golf games and makin’ money. And she’s workin’ hard to get better, even when things get tough. Sounds like a good egg to me. Reminds me a bit of myself, back in the day, always workin’ hard on the farm, never givin’ up. That’s how you get things done in this world, whether you’re swingin’ a golf club or milkin’ a cow. And that’s all I gotta say about that.
