Alright, so, you wanna hear about them Seattle fellas playin’ against them Houston boys, huh? Them Mariners and Astros, yeah? Okay, okay, I’ll tell ya what I know. It ain’t gonna be fancy, mind you, just plain talk like we’re sittin’ on the porch swing sippin’ sweet tea.
So, first off, them Astros, they been winnin’ a whole bunch. Heard tell they won somethin’ called the “American League West Division” title. Seven times in eight years! That’s a lot, ain’t it? They beat them Mariners to get it, too. Score was 4 to 3. Close game, real nail-biter, I reckon.
Now, ’bout them players… There’s this fella, Mitch Garver, and another one, Julio Rodriguez. They both smacked the ball outta the park, you know, hit them home runs. That Rodriguez boy, he also got a single and drove in a run. And someone named Justin Turner, he got a “sacrifice fly,” whatever that is. Sounds like he did somethin’ good for the team, though.
- Houston Astros winnin’ a lot, like 93 games outta the whole shebang.
- Seattle Mariners, they won 73, not too shabby, but not as good as them Astros.
- Them Astros, they ain’t been doin’ so hot lately, though. Lost their last five games. Heard they’re only gettin’ like, 2.6 points a game or somethin’.
There was this other game, see? Jake Meyers, plays for Houston I think, he hit a homer too, put his team ahead. Happened in the seventh inning. They was playin’ against some fella named Ryne Stanek, used to play for Houston but now he’s with Seattle. Imagine that, playin’ against your old buddies!
Them Mariners, they used to be real good too. Way back when, in 2001, they won 116 games! Tied some old record from like, a hundred years ago. Can you believe it? 116 games! That’s more games than I got chickens in the coop, I tell ya!
And one time, back in ‘99, them Mariners scored a whole mess of runs against them Tigers. Don’t remember how many, but it was a lot. They must’ve been hittin’ that ball all over the place.
Anyways, when you look at the numbers, them Astros seem to score more runs overall. Somethin’ like 703 runs the whole season, compared to the Mariners’ 642. Means they’re hittin’ better, I guess. They get like 4.2 points a game on average.
So, if you’re bettin’ on these games, I dunno what to tell ya. Astros used to be a sure thing, but they been losin’ lately. Mariners, they got some good players too, like that Rodriguez kid. It’s all a gamble, just like plantin’ corn – sometimes you get a good harvest, sometimes you don’t.
You can find all this stuff online, you know. Scores and all that. They call it “box scores” and “pitch-by-pitch” stuff. I don’t understand half of it, but if you like numbers, you might find it interestin’. Me? I just like watchin’ them boys hit the ball and run around.
So, that’s the gist of it, as far as I can tell. Astros been good, Mariners been okay, and sometimes you hit a homer, sometimes you strike out. That’s baseball, ain’t it?
