Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with something a bit different – those wacky Firefly Funhouse characters from WWE. I’ve always found them kind of creepy but also super interesting, you know? So I thought, why not try to recreate them myself? It seemed like a fun little project.
First, I gathered a bunch of reference images. I opened up my browser and just started searching for pictures of Bray Wyatt and all his Funhouse friends. I found a ton of good stuff, especially of Abby the Witch, Huskus the Pig, Mercy the Buzzard, and Ramblin’ Rabbit. I saved all the best images to a folder on my computer so I could easily look at them while I worked.
Next, I needed to decide how I was going to bring these characters to life. I thought about maybe trying to sculpt them out of clay, but that seemed like a lot of work. Then I remembered I had some old action figures lying around, and I figured I could just repaint and modify those. Much easier, right?
Getting My Hands Dirty
- I dug through my old toy boxes and found a few figures that seemed like they would work. For Abby, I found a witch doll that was perfect. For Huskus, I used a generic figure and modify it. Mercy was a bird figure, and Ramblin’ Rabbit was, well, a rabbit figure. I was basically Frankenstein, but with toys instead of body parts.
- I cleaned all the figures off with some soap and water to get rid of any dust or grime. Then I started painting. I used acrylic paints because they dry fast and are pretty easy to work with. I mostly used a small brush.
- For Abby, I mainly just repainted her dress to match the one in the Funhouse. I added some details to her face to make her look a bit more like the character. Huskus was the biggest challenge, I basically covered him in red paint and called it a day. Mercy got a new coat of black and brown paint. And Ramblin’ Rabbit, I just added some details to his face to make him look a little more unsettling.
It took me a few hours to get everything painted and dried. While I waited, I worked on some of the accessories. I made a tiny little lantern for Abby out of some cardboard and a little LED light. I also fashioned a little microphone for Ramblin’ Rabbit out of a toothpick and some foil. I know, I’m a genius, right?
Once everything was dry, I put it all together. It actually turned out way better than I expected! They’re not perfect replicas, but they definitely capture the vibe of the Firefly Funhouse characters. I even set up a little scene with some creepy lighting to take pictures.
Overall, it was a really fun project. It was cool to see how I could transform some old toys into something totally new. Plus, now I have my own little army of Firefly Funhouse characters to keep me company. Maybe I’ll try to make the Fiend next. We’ll see.
