I have been feeling so excited about this new set, Bloomburrow. I mean, who doesn’t love cute animals? So, I jumped right in on August 2nd when it was fully released. I’ve been playing Magic: The Gathering for a while now, so I’m not exactly new to this. But this set, man, it’s something else.
First things first, I checked out some previews and spoilers online. I’m usually not big on spoilers, but I just couldn’t help myself this time. I saw a few things on some websites that got me even more hyped.
Then came the release day. I bought a bunch of play boosters and a couple of collector boosters. I always get a bit of a thrill opening these things up. It’s like a little treasure hunt every time. And let me tell you, the artwork on these cards is just gorgeous. All those adorable little critters, and the colors are so vibrant. It really makes the game feel more alive.
I also picked up the starter kit. Even though I’ve been playing for years, I like to see what they come up with for the newbies. This one is pretty good, it has two preconstructed sixty-card decks, which is pretty standard stuff, but I like the selection of cards they included. I’ll probably use some of these cards to tweak my existing decks.
Getting Into the Game
Now, about the gameplay. This set is faction-based, which I love. It makes for some really interesting draft gameplay. But what’s cool is that the cards show these factions cooperating, which is a nice touch. It’s like they’re saying, “Hey, we can all get along, even if we’re different.” I find that pretty awesome.
The new mechanics are super fun too. One of them is called “Offspring.” It lets you double up on certain effects, which can be really powerful if you play it right. I’ve already managed to pull off some crazy combos with this one. It’s a blast!
Trying Out the Commander Decks
I also grabbed the Bloomburrow Commander decks. There are a few different ones, but I went for the Zinnia deck. Zinnia is a great Commander, with unique abilities and solid synergy. The deck is strong right out of the box, but I’ve already started thinking about how to upgrade it. I’m thinking of adding more Bird subtype cards or maybe focusing on maximizing those “enter the battlefield” effects. There are so many possibilities.
Wrapping Up
Overall, I’m really enjoying Bloomburrow. It’s not just the cute animal theme, but the gameplay is solid, and the new mechanics add a fresh twist. I’ve been playing almost every day since it came out, either with friends or just messing around with the cards myself. I’ve even started brewing some new deck ideas inspired by the set.
I saw online that Bloomburrow is already one of the most successful expansions for Magic: The Gathering. And I can totally see why. It’s a great set for both new players and veterans like me. I know I’ll be playing with these cards for a long time.
So yeah, that’s my take on Bloomburrow so far. I’m having a blast with it, and I think anyone who enjoys Magic: The Gathering will too. Go check it out if you haven’t already!
