Man, I’ve been waiting for “Black Myth: Wukong” to come out forever. Finally got it and tried to install the new update today, and guess what? It kept freezing. Seriously, what a pain. I was so hyped to play, but this just killed my mood.
So, I started digging around. First, I double-checked my internet connection, thinking maybe it was a download issue. Nope, internet was fine. Then, I restarted my computer – classic move, right? Still freezing. Ugh.
Next, I went to the game’s official site and forums. I figured I couldn’t be the only one with this problem. I scoured through a bunch of posts and guess I am not the only one. Lots of people are having the same issue. But no one mentioned the update installation.
- First, some folks suggested updating my graphics drivers. Okay, fair enough. I headed over to the Nvidia site (since I have an Nvidia card) and downloaded the latest driver. Installed it, rebooted, and tried the update again. Nope, still freezing.
- Someone else mentioned checking the game files on Steam. You know, “Verify integrity of game files” or something like that. Did that, and it said everything was fine. Great, so that’s not it.
I was about to give up, but then I remembered something about Steam’s overlay causing issues sometimes. I went into Steam’s settings and turned off the in-game overlay. I don’t really use it anyway.
After that, I tried running the update installation again. It started installing. I crossed my fingers, and guess what? It actually worked! The installation completed without freezing. Can you believe it? Such a simple thing, but it made all the difference. I relaunched the game and it is working like a charm!
So, yeah, if you’re having trouble with the “Black Myth: Wukong” update installation freezing, try turning off the Steam overlay. It might just do the trick. It’s so dumb, but hey, it worked for me. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a game to play!
