Alright, so I wanted to mess around with “sturdy” stuff in Baldur’s Gate 3. I’d seen some chatter online, figured I’d give it a shot myself. No clue what I was really doing, just diving in headfirst.
First, I started a new game. Didn’t want to mess up my main playthrough, you know? I picked a character that seemed like they could take a hit – a dwarf, maybe? Or a half-orc. Can’t quite remember, it was all about getting someone tough.

Experiment Phase One: Getting Beat Up
I ran into some goblins. Yeah, those annoying little guys. Instead of fighting back like I usually do, I just… let them hit me. I wanted to see how long I could last, how this “sturdy” thing worked in action.
- Observation 1: It hurt. A lot.
- Observation 2: My character didn’t go down as fast as I thought. Huh.
I kept doing this with different enemies. Some wolves, a few of those weird intellect devourers… Basically, anything that moved, I let it wail on me. I was taking notes, scribbling down how many hits I could take before needing a potion or a short rest.
Experiment Phase Two: Gear and Abilities
Okay, so getting punched in the face wasn’t the whole plan. I started looking at gear. Anything that said “toughness” or “constitution” or something like that, I slapped it on. I even found a shield that seemed pretty solid.
I also started paying attention to abilities. Did my character have any spells or skills that could boost my defense? Anything to make me a little less… squishy?
- Figured out some classes were naturally better at this.
- Found some items with weird effects.
Experiment Phase Three : Testing it.
I put it against the biggest, baddest enemy to see how long it can last.
- Observation 1: Last pretty long.
- Observation 2: Need more testing.
So, yeah, that’s my “sturdy” experiment so far. Still figuring things out, still getting knocked around. But hey, it’s a learning process, right? I was able to get some satisfying test.
