Okay, so I’ve been diving deep into Wuthering Waves, trying to figure out the whole weapon situation. It’s a bit of a mess, honestly, but I think I’ve cracked the code, at least for now. Here’s how I went about it, and what I found.
Starting Out Blind
First, I just jumped in, playing the game, grabbing whatever weapons I could find. I wasn’t paying too much attention to stats or anything, just equipping whatever seemed “stronger” based on the little numbers that popped up. Big mistake. I hit a wall pretty quickly, especially with those tougher bosses.

Getting Serious (and Confused)
Then, I started looking online, reading guides, watching videos. Everyone seemed to have a different opinion. Some people swore by certain 5-star weapons, others said 4-stars were just as good, and it was all about the substats. My head was spinning.
Experiment Time!
So, I decided to do my own testing. I picked a few characters I liked, and started farming for different weapons. I spent hours grinding, trying out different combinations, and keeping track of my damage numbers in a messy spreadsheet. It was chaotic, but slowly, patterns started to emerge.
- Tried out all sorts of swords.
- Used some pistols on another character.
- Also,experimented with those broadblades.
The “Aha!” Moment
What I realized was, it’s not just about the weapon’s rarity (like 4-star or 5-star). Yeah, 5-stars generally have better base stats, but the substats and the weapon’s ability are HUGE. Like, game-changing huge. A 4-star weapon with the perfect substats for your character can be way better than a 5-star with garbage substats.
For my main DPS, I’d been using a fancy 5-star sword, but I wasn’t getting amazing results. I was frustrated and thought I just * I happened to get lucky and find it,I swapped it out to the sword and BAM! My damage went through the roof. Turns out, getting that extra Crit Rate and Crit DMG was exactly what I needed.
My (Current) Conclusion
My current thinking is this: Don’t just blindly chase 5-star weapons. Look at your character, figure out what stats they need (Crit? ATK? Energy Recharge?), and then find a weapon (4-star or 5-star) that boosts those stats. Pay close attention to the weapon’s ability too – some of them are seriously powerful.
It’s all about that synergy, man. Finding the right weapon for your character’s build. It’s like putting together a puzzle, and when you find that perfect fit, it’s so satisfying.

I used a lot of weapons and a lot of characters,it’s fun.
Keep experimenting! I’m still learning, and I’m sure the “best” weapons will change as I get further in the game, and as they add new characters and weapons. But for now, this approach is working pretty well for me. Good luck out there!
