Okay, so today I decided to mess around with fusion damage in Wuthering Waves. I’d heard some chatter online about how to really maximize it, and, well, I’m a sucker for big numbers.
First, I gathered my team. I knew I needed characters that could reliably apply different elemental effects. So, I went with my usual suspects, and I was sure they would be useful.

Experiment phase
I headed over to a training dummy – gotta have something that won’t fight back too much while I’m figuring things out. My initial approach was pretty basic: hit the dummy with one element, then switch characters and hit it with another. The result, I got some fusion action going, which was neat, but the numbers weren’t exactly blowing my mind.
So, I started to think and I thought, it’s gotta be more than just slapping elements together. There’s probably some timing or order involved. I spent a good chunk of time just cycling through different combinations. Fire then ice, ice then fire, throwing in some electro… It was a bit of a mess, honestly. A lot of trial and error, and a lot of watching damage numbers pop up.
The “Aha!” Moment
Then, it hit me. I noticed that certain elements seemed to “linger” longer than others. Like, the electro effect would stick around for a few seconds after I applied it. That’s when I tried something different: I applied the lingering element first, then quickly switched and slammed the dummy with the second element while the first was still active.
Boom! That was it! The fusion damage was way higher. It was like the elements were actually mixing together instead of just replacing each other. And I found this thing is amazing!
My current understanding
- Apply a “lingering” elemental effect first (like electro, or sometimes freeze).
- Quickly switch to a character with a different element.
- Attack while the first effect is still active.
I’m still experimenting with different character combinations and specific timings. The numbers increase a lot!
