Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this Boothill character in Honkai Star Rail, trying to figure out the best way to build him. And let me tell you, his Light Cone situation is a bit of a head-scratcher, at least for me.
First off, I spent some time digging around, trying to understand what makes this guy tick. Turns out, he’s all about that Break DMG. The more Break Effect you stack on him, the harder he hits when he breaks an enemy’s weakness. Sounds simple enough, right?
So, naturally, I started looking at his Light Cones. His signature one, “Sailing Towards A Second Life,” is obviously a good fit. It’s a 5-star, so it’s not exactly easy to get, but it’s designed specifically for him. Boosts his Break Effect and probably does some other fancy stuff I haven’t fully grasped yet.
But what if you’re like me and don’t have his signature Light Cone? Well, that’s where things get tricky. I tried a few different 4-star options. “Shadowed by Night” seems okay, but honestly, none of them really blew me away. I felt like I was just slapping something on him because I had to.
- Tried different Light Cones: I switched between a few different ones I had lying around.
- Tested them out in battle: Ran a bunch of simulations and Calyx runs to see how they performed in action.
- Felt underwhelmed: Nothing really seemed to make a huge difference in his damage output.
Then I moved on to Relics. Again, it’s all about Break Effect. I farmed the “Thief of Shooting Meteor” set for a while, got a full 4-piece set with some decent substats. Also experimented with a 2-piece Thief and a 2-piece “Watchmaker” set, just to see if mixing and matching made any difference. It’s a grind, man, let me tell you.
Ornaments Were Straightforward
Ornaments were a bit more straightforward. There’s this one set, “Talia, Kingdom of Banditry,” that’s basically made for Boothill. It gives you a flat Break Effect boost, and if you can get his Speed high enough (145 or more), you get even more Break Effect. So that’s what I went with. I managed to get a pretty good set after a few days of grinding. Increased his Break Effect by a good amount.
Finally, after all that, I threw him into some battles. And you know what? He’s a beast! With all that Break Effect, he’s shattering enemies left and right. It’s pretty satisfying to watch. I’m still not 100% sure I’ve got the perfect build, but it’s definitely working.
My main takeaway? Boothill is all about that Break Effect. Focus on that, and you’ll be golden. His Light Cone options outside of his signature are a bit meh, but you can make it work. Just be prepared to grind for those Relics and Ornaments!
