Okay, so I decided to jump into this “At the Mounds of Madness 2: Gray Zone Warfare” thing today. It’s supposed to be some kind of open-world extraction shooter, which sounded pretty cool. I mean, who doesn’t like a good shooter, right? And open-world? Even better!
Getting Started
First, I looked around a bit online. Found this unofficial wiki dedicated to Gray Zone Warfare. Seems like a good place to get some basic info. They’ve got stuff on vendors, items, you name it. Honestly, it’s a bit overwhelming at first, but hey, it’s a community wiki, so people are adding to it all the time.
After that, I actually started the game.
In the Game
Exploring the World: The game world is massive. I started wandering around, checking out the different areas. There are tons of places to explore, and it seems like there’s always something new to discover. I stumbled across some abandoned buildings, a few creepy forests, and even some military checkpoints.
- Finding Gear: Of course, you need gear in a game like this. I started finding stuff pretty early on. Some basic weapons, some ammo, that sort of thing. I did find a nice scope later on, which was sweet.
- Encountering Enemies: You run into enemies pretty quickly. Some are easy to take down, others, not so much. I had a few close calls where I almost got wiped out, that was a close call. Had to use some strategy, you know? Flanking, using cover, that kind of stuff.
- Completing Missions: There are missions you can do, which is a good way to earn some rewards and progress. I did a few of the early ones, just to get a feel for things. They weren’t too tough, but I can tell they’re going to get harder.
My Thoughts So Far
Overall: It’s a pretty cool game. It’s got that whole survival vibe going on, which I dig. You really have to pay attention to your surroundings and manage your resources. It’s not just run-and-gun, which is a nice change of pace.
Next Steps: I’m definitely going to keep playing. I want to explore more of the map, find better gear, and take on some of the more challenging missions. I’ve heard there are some pretty intense firefights later in the game, and I’m kind of looking forward to that, but I am also a little bit scared of that. This game is still pretty new, so I’m sure there will be more updates and stuff in the future. I’ll probably check back in on that wiki from time to time to see what other people are discovering.
Anyway, that’s my experience with “At the Mounds of Madness 2: Gray Zone Warfare” so far. It’s a solid game, and I think it’s got a lot of potential. If you’re into these kinds of games, you should definitely check it out!
