Okay, so I was trying to get into this whole “chama” thing that Alex Pereira keeps saying. I mean, the guy’s a beast in the octagon, right? Knocking people out left and right. So, I figured, why not try to understand what he’s all about?
First, I watched a bunch of his fights. Man, this dude is intense! He’s got this aggressive style, always pushing forward. But it’s not just wild swinging. He’s got this slick footwork. I noticed he does this thing where he steps his back foot forward before he throws a jab. I guess that’s where he gets some of that crazy power from. You know what they say, power comes from the legs, not just the arms!
Trying Out the “Chama”
Then I dug into what “chama” actually means. Turns out, it’s like saying “let’s go” or “come on” in Portuguese. It’s like his way of pumping himself up, getting that fire going.
- So I started trying to use it myself. I’d be in the gym, working out, and I’d just yell out “Chama!” It felt kinda weird at first, but I gotta admit, it did give me a little boost. Like I was tapping into some of that Pereira energy.
- I also started trying to incorporate some of his footwork into my own training. That back foot step thing? It’s harder than it looks! But I kept practicing, and I could feel my punches getting a little snappier.
- I even watched some of Jiri Prochazka’s stuff, ’cause Pereira fought him, right? Prochazka’s had a rough time with injuries, but he’s still a tough dude. Seems like Pereira just has that unexpected element that throws people off.
I saw that even Jon Jones, that big star, people think he’s been picking his fights carefully. And some folks, like Jan Błachowicz, say it’s ’cause he’s a little scared of some guys, maybe even Pereira! I don’t know about all that, but it’s interesting, right?
My Conclusion on “Chama”
Anyway, I kept at it, using “chama,” working on my footwork. I’m not saying I’m gonna be a UFC champ or anything, but I do feel like I’ve gotten a little bit better, a little bit stronger. And it’s kinda cool to feel like I’m connecting with this fighter I admire, even in this small way. It is just a little thing I did to try to understand, but now I can say “chama” with a little more feeling. It is a little win for me.
So, yeah, that’s my little journey into the world of Alex Pereira and his “chama.” It’s been fun, and I think I’ve learned a thing or two along the way.
Chama!
