Okay, so today I messed around with a match-up, Alex Parrers vs. Jouri 2. Let me tell you, it was quite the ride.
Getting Started
First off, I fired up the game and picked Alex. I’ve been playing him a bit lately, so I’m kind of used to his moves. Jouri, on the other hand, I haven’t touched much. I figured it’d be cool to see how they stack up.
Diving In
-
Round 1, I started feeling out Jouri’s moves. She’s quick, I’ll give her that. I tried to keep my distance, using Alex’s longer-range attacks. It was going okay, but she kept getting in close and messing me up with those fast combos.
-
Round 2, I thought, “Alright, time to get aggressive.” I started using more of Alex’s parries and grapples. It worked for a bit! I landed a couple of solid hits, but man, Jouri’s counters are brutal. She punished me hard for every mistake.
Experimenting
After a few rounds, I switched things up. I tried playing super defensive, just blocking and dodging. That didn’t work out too well. Jouri’s got these overheads and mix-ups that are tough to deal with. Then, I went full offense, just mashing buttons and hoping for the best. Surprisingly, I got a few lucky wins that way, haha.
Figuring Stuff Out
Slowly, I started to get a feel for the match-up. I realized that Alex’s power bombs are pretty good against Jouri if you time them right. Also, his anti-air moves can catch her when she jumps in. But you gotta be careful ’cause if you mess up, she’ll make you pay.
The Grind
I spent a good chunk of time just practicing, trying different strategies. Some rounds I’d focus on zoning her out, other rounds I’d try to rush her down. It was a lot of trial and error, a lot of getting my butt kicked, but it was fun. Made a little bit of progress on the first day.
Final Thoughts, For Now
So, after all that, I’d say this match-up is tough, but not impossible. Alex has some tools to deal with Jouri, but you really gotta know what you’re doing. I still have a lot to learn, but hey, that’s part of the fun, right? I am thinking about keep practicing this match-up later and maybe record some cool moments. We will see.
