Alright, so the other day I was messing around with “Shin Megami Tensei V”, right? I’d heard a bit about this new “Vengeance” version, and how it shakes things up. I figured, why not, let’s dive in and see what’s new.
First thing I did was start a new game, obviously. I wanted to see this “new route” everyone was talking about. I’m playing through, doing the usual demon-negotiating thing – you know, gotta catch ’em all, or in this case, recruit ’em all. It’s a bit of a grind, but hey, that’s SMT for you.
So, during the game, there is a choice about Onyankopon and Anansi. I did not know what to do at first. Then I realized it is about the Law and Chaos. If you want Law, you side with Onyankopon. If you want Chaos, you side with Anansi. It was a tough choice, but I finally made up my mind.
Then I went on this wild goose chase to find Alice. Finally, I found her up north in Shinjuku. But to get her on my side, I had to do this whole “Alice’s Wonderland” subquest. It wasn’t too bad, a little trippy, but I got through it.
How I Started Recruiting Demons
- Get into Fights: I started by just wandering around, picking fights with any demon I came across. Doesn’t matter which one, just gotta get into that battle screen.
- Choose “Talk”: Once the battle starts, instead of attacking, I always picked the “Talk” option. This is where the magic happens. You gotta sweet-talk these demons into joining your crew.
- Negotiate: This part is a bit like a weird dating sim. You gotta figure out what each demon likes and give them the right answers or items. Sometimes they want your life force, other times they want some weird item. It’s all about trial and error.
Then there’s this Demeter character. After finishing up a quest called the “Tyrant of Tennozu,” I found her chilling in some building south of the Shinjuku 3rd Block Leyline Fount. It’s important that you must finish the previous quest. Otherwise, she won’t show up.
All in all, it took me a good few hours to get the hang of it, but now I’ve got a pretty solid team of demons. This “Vengeance” update definitely adds a lot more to do, and I’m still exploring all the new stuff. If you’re a fan of SMT, you should check it out. It’s a lot of fun and the gameplay experience is great!
