Okay, so, I’ve been digging into this whole “Oakland Athletics vs. Texas Rangers” thing, specifically their match player stats. Let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a journey!
First off, I started by just trying to get a general feel for recent games. I looked up the box scores for a game on September 24th and another one on September 1st. Just wanted to see who played, who did well, that sort of stuff. Turns out Wyatt Langford and Adolis Garca from the Rangers really showed up in one of those games, both hitting home runs.
Then, I got a bit more curious. I found this detailed box score from a game on April 21, 2023. It had everything – the standard box score, linescore, play-by-play, even game notes. I started going through it, trying to pick out patterns. The play-by-play, that was interesting as it gave me a blow-by-blow of what happened in the game.
After that, I wanted to know about an upcoming game. I found out there was one on September 26th, so I made a note to check that out later. You know, to see if any of my earlier observations held up.
Then I went back a bit further, to a game on September 14, 2022. Same deal – box score, stats, highlights, play-by-play. By this point, I was starting to get a better sense of each player’s performance over time.
The Athletics are moving!
- Then came the bombshell. The Athletics are ditching their “Oakland” name. Apparently, they’re just going by “Athletics” now, no city attached.
- They’re moving to West Sacramento for their 2025 home games.
- Then I found out they’re moving to Las Vegas, but the new stadium won’t be ready for a few years.
Then I got sidetracked into some random stuff. I learned that Michael Young played the most games ever for the Texas Rangers – 1,823 games!
And get this – the A’s are apparently valued at $1.2 billion, but they need a new $2 billion ballpark, and they need an investor to chip in $500 million to make it happen.
So yeah, that’s where I’m at with this whole Oakland Athletics vs. Texas Rangers thing. It’s been a wild ride, from stats to stadium drama. But hey, that’s what makes it fun, right? You never know what you’re gonna find when you start digging into this stuff.
