Today I wanted to dig into something a bit different – Justin Rose’s career earnings. Yeah, the golfer. I got curious about how much these top players actually rake in, and Rose seemed like a good case study. Let me tell you, the numbers are wild!
First thing I did was hit up Google. Just a simple search, “Justin Rose career earnings”. Bam! A bunch of articles popped up. I skimmed through a few, and one from Spotrac caught my eye. It said Rose has made over $65 million in his career. $65 million! Can you believe that? From hitting a little white ball around. Crazy, right?
Then I dug a bit deeper. I found out that a big chunk of that comes from PGA TOUR winnings. Apparently, Rose and another golfer, Adam Scott, both crossed the $50 million mark in career PGA TOUR earnings at some tournament called Torrey Pines. I’m not a huge golf guy, so I didn’t even know about that one. But $50 million just from the PGA TOUR? That’s insane.
I also learned about these things called “purses”. Like, the prize money for winning a tournament. One of them, “The Players Championship”, had a $25 million purse, with $4.5 million going to the winner. I mean, imagine winning $4.5 million in one go. You’d be set for life! Then there was this Xander Schauffele who won some PGA Championship and got $3.3 million. Wild, wild stuff.
So, I went down this rabbit hole, trying to find a year-by-year breakdown of Rose’s earnings. Found some numbers, but they weren’t complete. One site had him making like $1.4 million one year, then $1.3 million another, and then just $965,000 the next. It kind of fluctuates, which makes sense, I guess. Depends on how many tournaments you play and how well you do. Then I saw the 2018-19 earnings were a whopping $4,358! I think they have some mistake, it can not just be a $4,358, maybe they mean $4.358 million.
Here’s what I managed to piece together:
- 2021-22: $1,410,132 (16 tournaments)
- 2020-21: $1,304,180 (17 tournaments)
- 2019-20: $965,656 (13 tournaments)
- 2018-19: $4,358 (Not sure how many tournaments, but this must be wrong)
It got me thinking, though. These guys don’t just make money from tournaments. They’ve got sponsorships, endorsements, probably investments, who knows what else. So, their actual total income is probably way higher than just their tournament winnings. The $700 per year is totally a joke.
Anyway, this whole thing was pretty eye-opening for me. I mean, I knew pro golfers made good money, but I didn’t realize it was this much. It’s a whole different world out there. Makes my 9-to-5 feel pretty ordinary, haha.
So that’s my little adventure into the world of Justin Rose’s finances. Hope you found it as interesting as I did!
