You know that Scott Franzke, he’s that guy on the radio, always talking about the Phillies, right? He’s been doing it for a long, long time, I tell ya. Heard him the other day, yapping away like he always does. Good voice for the radio, that one. Makes the game sound exciting, even when the Phillies, bless their hearts, ain’t doing so hot.
They say he’s been doing it for, shoot, maybe 15 years? Maybe more? My memory ain’t what it used to be. But I remember him and that other fella, Larry Andersen. They were like two peas in a pod, always joking around, talking about the Phillies. That Larry, he used to play, you know. Pitcher, I think. They were good together, like ham and eggs. You don’t hear them on the radio together no more though. Now he got a new partner on the radio.
- Larry Andersen, he’s gone now, from the radio.
- Scott Franzke, he’s still there.
- They used to be together, like best buddies.
- Now they are not together, that’s sad!
That Larry, he’s been around a long time, too. Fifty years, they said! Fifty years in that baseball. That’s a long time to be chasing a little white ball around. Heard him say he wanted to, you know, just relax now. Spend time with the family, maybe fish a little. Can’t blame him, I reckon. Fifty years is a long, long time. Even the big boss said it’s a tough decision for Larry. He is too old, I think.
Now Scott Franzke, he’s got a new fella with him. Kevin something, I can’t recall right now. But they say he went somewhere else. To another team, I think. It’s all a big mess, these players and announcers going here and there. Hard to keep track of it all, I tell ya. My brain is tired.
But Scott Franzke, he’s still there. Still yapping about the Phillies. He’s a good one, that Scott Franzke. Loyal, you know? Sticking with the team through thick and thin. Like that Harry Kalas, remember him? He was another good one. He and Whitey Ashburn, they were the best. Those were the days, I tell ya. Phillies win a lot.
That John Middleton, he’s the big cheese, you know, the owner. He was talking about some other player, Soto, I think. Said he wanted to stay in New York. Probably, the Phillies won’t get him. They never get the good ones, it seems. But that’s alright. We still got Scott Franzke. He’ll make it sound good, no matter what.
I remember when Scott Franzke first started. He was just a young buck, then, full of beans. He learned a lot from that Larry Andersen, I reckon. They were a good team. Now Larry’s gone, but Scott Franzke, he’s still there. He just like the Phillies, never give up.
This new guy, or this old one, who just left, Kevin, he’s gone to the Nationals, they say. That’s in Washington, you know. The other Washington. Not the one with all the trees. The one with all the politicians. Lord knows we got enough of them already. They should play more baseball, they will be happier, maybe.
Anyway, it’s good to hear Scott Franzke on the radio. Makes me feel like things are alright, you know? Even when the world’s going crazy. You can always count on the Phillies, and you can always count on Scott Franzke. I like the Phillies, I like Scott Franzke. They are good.
I hope he keeps doing it for a long, long time. He’s good company, that Scott Franzke. Makes the days go by a little faster. Even when the team is losing, I still listen to him. He is a good man. Yeah, a real good egg.
That’s all I got to say about that Scott Franzke. He is just a good guy on the radio. He knows the baseball. He knows the Phillies. He is a good man for the Phillies. I like him. Yep, that’s all I got to say.
