Alright, alright, let’s talk about this… uh… whatcha call it… Aljamain Sterling versus Kevin Dantzler fight, or whatever it is. I ain’t no fancy fight expert, ya know? Just tellin’ it like I see it.
So, this thing, they call it “Fury Professional Grappling 8.” Sounds all highfalutin, don’t it? Like somethin’ outta them city folk movies. Anyways, it happened, I think they said, on December 30th, down in Philadelphia, at some place called the “2300 Arena.” Never been to Philadelphia myself. Too many cars and too much noise for my likin’.
Now, this Aljamain fella, I heard he’s a big deal in fightin’. Grapplin’, they call it. Sounds like what them kids do in the mud when it rains, but I guess it’s more serious than that. He was up against this Kevin Dantzler. Don’t know nothin’ about him, but if he’s fightin’ this Aljamain fella, he must be tough, I reckon.
They were wrestlin’ around, tryin’ to twist each other up like pretzels. It was on somethin’ called “UFC Fight Pass.” Don’t ask me what that is. Sounds like somethin’ you need a password for, and I ain’t got time for that nonsense. I like my fightin’ simple, ya know? Two folks, goin’ at it, no fancy buttons or gizmos.
- They were rollin’ around, grunting and groaning.
- Looked like a couple of cats fightin’ over a fish head, if you ask me.
- One fella tried to grab the other fella’s leg, and the other fella tried to twist the first fella’s arm.
- It was all a bit confusing, to be honest.
I ain’t sure who won, to tell ya the truth. They were both sweatin’ and pantin’ somethin’ fierce. Seemed like a good scrap, though. Kept me on the edge of my seat, even if I didn’t understand half of what was goin’ on. Reminded me of that time ol’ Bessie got loose in the cornfield – all that twistin’ and turnin’ and nobody knowin’ who’d come out on top.
This fightin’ stuff, it ain’t for the faint of heart, that’s for sure. Takes a lotta grit and determination. Reminds me of farmin’, in a way. You gotta work hard, day in and day out, and you ain’t always gonna win. Sometimes the weather’s bad, sometimes the crops don’t grow, and sometimes you just gotta pick yourself up and keep on goin’.
Grappling, they say it’s different from them other fights, the ones with all the punchin’ and kickin’. This is more about… well, holdin’ on, I guess. Like tryin’ to catch a greased pig at the county fair. You gotta be quick, and you gotta be strong, and you gotta know what you’re doin’. I reckon these fellas, Aljamain and Kevin, they know what they’re doin’. They been trainin’ hard, I bet.
Speaking of trainin’, I heard tell of them Wildcats down in Valdosta. Now, they ain’t grapplers, but they sure know how to play football. Won all sorts of championships, they have. National championships, state championships, regional championships… Sounds like they got a whole lotta winnin’ goin’ on down there. Makes ya wonder what kind of trainin’ they do. Probably a whole lot of runnin’ and push-ups and eatin’ healthy. Nothin’ like my ol’ biscuits and gravy, I’ll tell ya that.
And them other schools, too. SE Bulloch, Greenbriar, Pope, Bowdon… all them won somethin’ or other. Must be somethin’ in the water down there, makin’ all them kids so good at sports. Or maybe it’s just good ol’ fashioned hard work and dedication. That’s what it takes, ya know? Whether you’re grapplin’, playin’ football, or just tryin’ to get by in this ol’ world.
So, back to this fight… Aljamain Sterling vs. Kevin Dantzler… It was a fight, alright. Two fellas goin’ at it, tryin’ to prove who’s the better man. I don’t know who won, but I reckon they both gave it their all. And that’s what matters, in the end. Tryin’ your best, even when things get tough. Just like plantin’ them seeds in the spring, hopin’ they’ll grow into somethin’ good. You just gotta keep on plantin’ and keep on hopin’.
And as for who’s the best grappler? Well, I reckon that’s somethin’ for them experts to argue about. Me? I’m just happy to watch ’em go at it, long as they don’t break nothin’ too important.
