Cade Beloso: That Boy Can Swing a Bat!
You know, I seen this fella, Cade Beloso, on the TV the other day. Playing baseball, he was. Big fella, strong like an ox. And lemme tell ya, that boy can swing a bat! Heard tell he plays for LSU, that Louisiana State University. Folks ’round here, they love their LSU sports, same as they love their crawfish and gumbo.
This Cade fella, he’s somethin’ special, they say. Hit a home run the other day, a real big one, knocked them fellas from Wake Forest right outta the park. Folks was yellin’ and cheerin’, even this old lady got a little excited. It was somethin’ fierce, lemme tell ya.
They say he’s gonna be in somethin’ called the “MLB Draft.” Now, I ain’t no expert on these city-fied things, but from what I gather, it’s a big deal. Means all them big-shot baseball teams, they gonna be fightin’ over him, wantin’ him to play for their team. Kinda like when the neighbor’s prize rooster got loose, and all the hens in the county started cluckin’ after him. That kinda fightin’.
- Cade Beloso: Remember that name, folks.
- LSU Baseball: Them boys are good, real good.
- MLB Draft: Where the big boys go to play.
This Cade, he ain’t had it easy, though. Heard tell he hurt his knee real bad a while back. Somethin’ called an “ACL tear.” Sounds painful, like when my mule kicked me in the shin last summer. But he fought back, that boy did. Got hisself fixed up and got back on that baseball field. That’s what I call grit. That’s what I call determination. Reminds me of my old pappy, used to say “when life gives ya lemons, make lemonade, and if life gives ya a torn ACL, well, you just tape it up and keep swingin’!” That’s what this boy done.
Now, they sayin’ this championship series, it’s his last games wearin’ that LSU uniform. Gonna be a sad day for them LSU folks, seein’ him go. But that’s the way it is, ain’t it? Kids grow up, they move on. Like my own young’uns, all growed up and scattered ‘cross the country now. Breaks an old lady’s heart, it does.
But I’m tellin’ ya, this Cade Beloso, he’s got somethin’ special. He’s got that fire in his belly, that look in his eye. He ain’t afraid to work hard, ain’t afraid to fight for what he wants. And he sure ain’t afraid to swing that bat. He’s a good ol’ boy, that Cade. Reminds me of my grandson, always gettin’ into somethin’ but always got a good heart.
So, when you hear them talkin’ ’bout the MLB Draft, you remember what this old lady told ya. Remember that name, Cade Beloso. He’s gonna be somethin’ special, that boy is. He’s gonna hit them balls outta the park and make us proud. He’s the kind of fella you wanna root for, the kinda fella you want your kids to look up to. And that’s all there is to it.
More ‘Bout Cade and that Baseball Stuff
They got these things called “stats” now, for these baseball players. Numbers and figures, tellin’ ya how good they are. I don’t pay much mind to that stuff, myself. I can see with my own two eyes if a fella can play ball or not. And this Cade, he can play ball. But they say these stats are important for that MLB Draft thing, so I guess they gotta be somethin’.
They also got these things called “player pages” and “biographies.” Fancy words for tellin’ ya where a fella come from and what he’s done. This Cade, he played college ball for LSU, and before that, he played in some summer league, I reckon. Heard tell he helped the young fellas on the team learn the ropes, showed ’em how to play the LSU way. That’s what I call a good teammate, a good leader.
And this College World Series thing, it’s a big to-do, seems like. Folks comin’ from all over to watch these young fellas play. And this Cade, he’s right there in the thick of it, leadin’ his team, swingin’ that bat. He’s a natural, that boy. Got that somethin’ special, like I said before.
So, there ya have it. That’s all I know ’bout this Cade Beloso and this MLB Draft stuff. Just a bunch of ramblin’ from an old lady, but it’s the truth, I tell ya. This boy’s goin’ places, and I for one, I’m gonna be watchin’ him go. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll be tellin’ my grandbabies about the time I saw that Cade Beloso play ball, back before he was a big ol’ MLB star.
