Alright, let’s yak about this UFC thing and, you know, the pirate-ing stuff. My grandkids, they talk about it all the time, this “you-eff-see” and watchin’ it on their fancy phones and computers. I don’t get it much, all that fightin’ and gruntin’, but they say it’s a big deal, like those wrasslin’ matches on TV back in the day, but realer, I guess.
Now, they tell me some folks, they don’t pay to watch. They get it for free, somehow, sneakin’ around on the internet. They call it “pirate-ing,” like stealin’ a ship, but instead of gold, they’re stealin’ the fightin’ show. Sounds wrong to me. If you want somethin’, you gotta pay for it, that’s how it always been. When I was young, if you wanted a chicken, you raised it or you bought it, plain and simple. No sneakin’ into someone’s coop in the middle of the night!
They say this pirate-ing, it hurts the fightin’ fellas and the folks who put on the show. Costs ‘em a lot of money, millions they say. Well, that ain’t right. Those fighters, they train hard, they get punched in the face, they deserve to get paid. And the folks who set up the whole shebang, they gotta pay for the lights, the cameras, all that fancy stuff. If people ain’t payin’ to watch, how they gonna make a livin’?
- It’s like stealin’ a chicken, plain and simple.
- Those fighters work hard, they deserve to get paid.
- If you want somethin’, you gotta pay for it.
My grandson, he tried to explain it to me. Said somethin’ about “ESPN-plus” bein’ the place to watch it legally. Sounds like a fancy TV channel to me. But he said even then, some folks find a way around payin’. They use these things called “加速器s” or somethin’, like puttin’ on a disguise so nobody knows where they are. Sounds like a whole lotta trouble to me just to watch a fight. Why not just pay the money and be done with it?
He also told me that if you get caught pirate-ing, you could get in trouble. Get letters from lawyers and stuff. Maybe even have to pay a fine. See? Told ya it wasn’t worth it. Stealin’ is stealin’, whether it’s a chicken or a fightin’ match. You don’t want to be gettin’ no nasty letters in the mail, that’s for sure.
Some folks, they complain that it’s too expensive to watch the fights. Twenty bucks, they say, that’s too much. Well, I don’t know about that. Twenty bucks for a night of entertainment, seems reasonable to me. You spend more than that on a bucket of chicken and some beers. And some folks said sometimes the picture is bad when they watch it for free, all blurry and stuff. Well, you get what you pay for I guess.
And then there’s the convenience, my grandson said. He says it’s easy to pay and watch, no fuss. Heck, he even got a refund once when the picture wasn’t good. See? They treat you right if you do things the right way. My other grandson said he would gladly pay 20 bucks because it’s easy and the picture is good. He said he could pirate Netflix, but it’s just easier to pay. Sounds like he’s got his head on straight, that one.
This UFC company, they try to stop the pirate-ing. They take down the videos and websites that are stealin’ their show. But it’s like playin’ whack-a-mole, my grandson said. They take one down, and another pops up. It’s a never-endin’ battle, seems like.
So, here’s my take on it. If you wanna watch the fightin’ fellas, pay the money. Support the folks who put on the show. Don’t be a cheapskate and try to steal it. That ain’t right. And you might get in trouble. Just pay the money and enjoy the show, that’s the way I see it. It’s like buying a good, strong rooster. You want a good one, you gotta pay for it. Simple as that.
