Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this Holly Holm gal, the one they call a kickboxer and all that fighting stuff. I ain’t no expert, mind you, but I seen a thing or two on that TV, and this Holly, she’s somethin’ else.
First off, they say she’s from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Now, I ain’t never been there, but I hear it’s a dry place, lots of dust and whatnot. Guess that kinda toughens you up, makes you wanna fight, you know? This Holly, she sure seems tough.
They say she used to be a boxer, a real good one too. Won a bunch of championships, they say. Eighteen times she defended her titles, in three different weight classes! Can you imagine that? That’s like fightin’ a whole bunch of folks, big ones, small ones, all sorts. Then she went into this mixed martial arts thing, the UFC, they call it.
- She knocked out that Ronda Rousey girl, the one everyone thought was unbeatable.
- Heard tell she uses them kicks real good, head kicks and all that.
- Knocked out seven folks outta ten, that’s what they say. That’s a lot of knockin’ out, I tell ya.
I remember hearin’ about that fight with that French lady, Anne Sophie Mathis, somethin’ like that. Sounded like a rough one. That Mathis gal, she was strong, real strong. Beat up on Holly pretty bad, they say. But Holly, she kept goin’. That’s what I like about her, she don’t quit.
They even had a whole month named after her in Albuquerque, “Holly Holm Month” they called it. Imagine that! A whole month! Musta been somethin’ special, that girl. She even became the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion, the best of the best, for a while there.
But then, you know, fightin’ ain’t easy. You win some, you lose some. She lost that title to another girl, Miesha Tate. Heard that was a tough fight too, went all five rounds. Holly was doin’ good, back and forth, but then that Tate girl got her in the end with a choke hold. Shame, but that’s how it goes sometimes.
This Holly girl, she’s got skills, that’s for sure. They talk about her footwork, how she moves around. And her punches, of course, from all that boxin’. And them kicks, like I said. Head kicks, body kicks, she does it all. She’s like a whirlwind, they say, fast and powerful. You wouldn’t wanna mess with her, I tell ya.
She was born in 1981, so she ain’t no spring chicken no more. But she’s still fightin’, still goin’ strong. That tells you somethin’ about her, about her heart. She’s got that grit, that determination, you know? The kind of thing that makes you keep gettin’ up even when you get knocked down.
So, yeah, that’s Holly Holm, the kickboxin’ girl from Albuquerque. A tough cookie, a fighter through and through. She might not win every fight, but she always gives it her all. And that’s somethin’ to admire, I reckon. She’s made her mark, that’s for sure, in that fightin’ world.
