Alright, so I wanted to up my game in Clash of Clans, specifically for Town Hall 9. I’ve been playing for a while, and I felt like I was hitting a wall with my attacks. I kept getting wrecked, and my resource gains were, well, let’s just say they weren’t great.
So, I started digging around. I watched some YouTube videos, read some guides, and basically just tried to absorb as much info as I could about good army compositions for TH9.

My Experimentation Phase
First, I messed around with GoWiPe. You know, the classic Golems, Wizards, and P.E.K.*. It’s a strong army, no doubt, but I found it to be a bit slow and sometimes I’d run out of time before getting that sweet 3-star.
Then, I tried some variations of GoWiVa. Golems, Wizards, and Valkyries. This was a little faster, and the Valkyries could really tear through the core of a base, but I still wasn’t consistently getting those 3-star victories.
I tried so many combinations. I felt frustrated. but I thought I should keep going to find a good one.
Finding My Go-To Army (For Now!)
I found the best army compisition. I share my troop details below.
- 2 Golems
- 18 Hog riders
- 9 Wizards
- 5 Wall breakers
- 1 Archer
- In clan castle, 7 hog riders with 1 poison spell
- 2 Healing Spells
- 1 Rage Spell
- 1 Poison Spell
I use 1 golem each at the two corners, spread wizards, and send some hog riders to those corners too. I made a funnel using this and sent other troops including heroes to the core. Then I support them with spells whenever I need. That’s all I did.
This worked pretty *’s got a good balance of tanking, damage, and speed. The Golems soak up the initial damage, the Wizards provide ranged support, and the Hog Riders can quickly target and destroy defenses. It’s not a guaranteed 3-star every time, of course, but I’m definitely seeing more consistent success with this than with anything else I’ve tried.

So, that’s my current TH9 army journey. I’m still learning and tweaking things, but for now, I’m sticking with it. It’s been a fun process of experimentation, and I’m finally feeling like I’m making some progress!
