Alright, so I saw this “Clash of Clans Thrower Throwdown” thing and figured, why not? I’ve been messing around with the Thrower a bit, but never really focused on it. So, this was my chance to really see what this troop is all about.
Getting Started
First things first, I made sure my Thrower was upgraded. No point in trying a challenge with a weak troop, right? Mine was already at a decent level, but I pumped in some resources to max it out for the current Town Hall level. Just wanted to give it a fair shot.

Then I cooked up an army. Decided to go heavy on Throwers, I use it all with Throwers. Filled up my army camps and got ready to rumble.
First Few Attacks
My first couple of attacks? Total disasters. Seriously. I was just throwing them in there, thinking they’d magically wreck everything. Nope. Got steamrolled by splash damage defenses. Mortars and Wizard Towers were having a field day. I quickly learned that Throwers are not tanks. Duh.
Adjusting Strategy
Okay, back to the drawing board. I realized I needed some meat shields. So I started adding some Giants. It makes my army more powerful, yeah! The Giants soaked up the damage, while the Throwers could stand back and do their thing. It’s also used to deal with those pesky air defenses.
I also started paying more attention to base layouts. I was looking for bases where the splash damage defenses were either spread out or easily accessible to my Giants. You gotta think a little, you know?
Finding Some Success
With the Giants in the mix, things started to click. I was actually winning attacks! The Throwers, with their long range and bouncing shots, were surprisingly effective at taking out clustered buildings. It’s pretty satisfying to watch those rocks fly and demolish a whole section of a base.
- Giants are key: Seriously, don’t go full Thrower. You need something to take the hits.
- Scout the base: Look for weaknesses in the splash damage defenses.
- Funneling: It still helps, even with long-range troops.
Still Learning
I’m definitely not a Thrower master yet, still can not 3 stars with every attack, but I’m getting there. This “Throwdown” thing was a good excuse to actually try and learn how to use them properly. It made my attack more wisely.

It’s a fun troop, and it’s definitely got potential. Just gotta keep practicing and figuring out the best strategies.
