Okay, so yesterday I decided to tackle the “thaw all the shards out” quest in Genshin Impact. I’d put it off for a while, and those ice chunks were just staring at me from the map, mocking me. Time to get it done!
First Shard – The Frostbearing Tree
I started with the one near the Frostbearing Tree. I remembered this one being a pain because of those Scarlet Quartz thingies you need. So I teleported to the nearby waypoint and glided over.
- First thing I did was smash the closest Scarlet Quartz I saw, then ran straight for the ice and whacked it. No dice – the effect wore off too fast.
- Okay, plan B. I looked around and spotted all four Scarlet Quartz locations. There’s one right near the ice, two up on those floating rock things, and one behind a destructible rock wall.
- I went for the one behind the rock wall first, smashed the wall with a claymore character, grabbed the Quartz, and hit the ice. Still nothing! The timing was super tight.
- Finally, I got it. I grabbed the one closest to the ice shard last. That little extra bit of time made all the difference. One shard down!
Second Shard – Starglow Cavern
Next up was the one in Starglow Cavern. I remembered there was a bit of a puzzle involved with this one.
- I teleported to the cavern entrance and headed inside. I immediately got attacked by some Ruin Guards.
- I took care of the Ruin Guards first, because I hate being interrupted. Then I focused on the warming Seelie puzzle.
- Basically, you have to guide these little Seelie things to their pedestals in a specific order. I kinda just winged it, following them around until they all lit up.
- Once the Seelies were happy, a barrier went down, and I could access the area with the ice and the Scarlet Quartz.
- Same deal as before: smash the Quartz, hit the ice. I had learned my lesson with the timing, so I found a good order, and it was pretty smooth.
Third Shard – Entombed City Outskirts
The last shard was near the Entombed City Outskirts. This one involved a bit of a fight, if I remembered correctly.
- I teleported to the waypoint and headed towards the marked location. Sure enough, there was a Ruin Grader just chilling there.
- I engaged in an epic battle (okay, it was a bit messy, I’m not the best at dodging). But I defeated the Ruin Grader eventually!
- After it was defeated, a mechanism activated. I hit the mechanism and a cutscene played. The floor opened up, revealing the final ice shard and – you guessed it – more Scarlet Quartz.
- This one was a bit easier because the Quartz were all pretty close. I grabbed them one by one, smashed the ice, and bam! Quest complete.
Finally! All the shards were thawed. It took a little running around and some trial and error, but I got it done. Now I can finally stop seeing those annoying ice markers on my map. Time to move on to the next adventure!
