Okay, so I was messing around with this Firefly thing, trying to get a banner to show up at a specific time. The whole “release time” feature, you know? It sounded simple enough, but man, did I run into some walls.
First, I dug through the Firefly documentation. I was hoping for a straightforward guide, a simple “set it and forget it” kind of deal. Nope. Lots of info on creating banners, customizing them, all that jazz, but the actual scheduling part? Vague at best.

So, I started experimenting. I created a basic banner, just a simple text message, and then went looking for anything that resembled a timer, a clock, a calendar, anything! I clicked on every button and tab I could find.
- I tried setting the “start date” and “end date” fields, thinking maybe that was it.
- I looked for a hidden “advanced settings” menu. Maybe it was tucked away somewhere?
- I even considered the possibility that I needed to write some custom code. (I’m not a coder, so that was a last resort.)
After a good hour of trial and error – mostly error – I finally stumbled upon the solution. Turns out, the “release time” thing wasn’t a separate setting at all. It was built right into the banner’s “activation” process.
Here’s the deal, you have to build up all setting for your banners, and choose “inactive”, then do something like modify.
How I Finally Got It Working
You go through the steps of making your own banner, then you make it “inactive”, then change the status, which called “Active from”, then there is a date/time, that is how you do it!.
So, yeah, that’s how I figured out the Firefly banner release time thing. Not the most intuitive process, but hey, it works! Hopefully, this little rant saves someone else some time and frustration.
